If anyone is looking for a break from all the trying news., that is. I think it is 10:00 PM. That is what it says on the hbo and hbo canada schedules. For some reason i had it marked down as 9:00 in my calendar. Sorry to those I misinformed.

And in this day and age, that's worth the price of admission.

(205,237 posts)We can see videos from Europe, so why can't our closest neighbor see US videos? And I was hesitant to post this, I always choose the "official" version since it'll last, but this was uploaded last night and it worked for me tonight. And I wanted to share it with those who missed it.

such and such a network'. It is hit and miss. I guess some networks sell their tv shows to a Canadian network to show it to us so maybe they are contractually obligated to not show the video to us in canada themselves. I have no problem getting the news or youtube cat videos. Just not network tv shows. Comedy Central does it. I assume hbo does it since we have hbo canada. Though I do get to play hbo videos I have no idea where you get them and sometimes the non network earliest versions out there don't render. So I don't bother with hbo. European countries may not buy US tv network shows. At least not as often as Canadian networks do. Like the Comedy Channel in canada plays the Daily Show so I can't play those videos but we get the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on cable here, directly from the US and not on a Canadian network, so I can play their videos that originate from the US. Does that make sense?

(205,237 posts)It's not like YouTube is charging for non HBO subscribers to watch the Real Time videos, for example. I do know that CTV especially will air US network shows, but HBO is a subscription service. And YouTube is international. It especially makes no sense that you can't see The Daily Show since it airs in Canada as well as here. And if you're near enough to the border, you can view channels from the US and Canada. Years ago, I was responsible for the TV listings for several newspapers in Washington State and they included both American and Canadian channels.

(118,630 posts)has bought a US network show, and if you happen to be watching it on an American cable channel they'll be a little blip at the start of the show where the version on the Canadian network with Canadian advertisements kicks in and takes over for the length of the show. The internet and videos only complicate it all.

(205,237 posts)I did remember that CTV showed more programming from American networks, though not always at the same time. And some areas, like Vancouver, would get channels from both sides of the border, including all the American networks and there was even one in French. However, this was back in the '80s, but if anything we've become so much more "global" since then - especially since the internets... and we have DUers from all over the globe, too.

(118,630 posts)It is complicated for sure. We are international despite what Trump wants.
