Trump administration halts billions in insurance payments under Obamacare

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-healthcare-obamacare/trump-administration-halts-billions-in-insurance-payments-under-obamacare-idUSKBN1JY00W

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Trump administration on Saturday halted billions of dollars in payments to health insurers under the Obamacare healthcare law, saying that a recent federal court ruling prevents the money from being disbursed.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which administers programs under the Affordable Care Act, said the action affects $10.4 billion in risk adjustment payments.

President Donald Trump’s administration has used its regulatory powers to undermine Obamacare after the Republican-controlled Congress last year failed to repeal and replace the law. About 20 million Americans have received health insurance coverage through the program.

The payments are intended to help stabilize health insurance markets by compensating insurers that had sicker, more expensive enrollees in 2017. The government collects the money from health insurers with relatively healthy enrollees, who cost less to insure.

CMS, which is overseen by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, said the move was necessary because of a February ruling by a federal court in New Mexico, which found that the federal government was using an inaccurate formula for allocating the payments.

I hate pain! I do everything I can to avoid it.. by eating healthy food and working out consistently. I'm not on any medication.. just vitamins, minerals and herbs.

It's not easy maintaining as we get older.

Sorry those women are in so much of it.

who rendered their services based on a variety of agreements and now will not be reimbursed. This will also mean future care and treatments and procedures will be on hold until an "accurate" formula for allocating the payments is implemented.

Query: Couldn't there be a stay on the EO until this "accurate" formula is sanctified and put into action?

It is the only way we can stop this.

We need to have the majority in BOTH HOUSES to control the agenda

There are forces at work who are trying to divide Democrats. We can argue and fight between ourselves all we want AFTER THE NOVEMBER ELECTION.

Just vote for the Democrat who is running against the republican. At this stage it doesn't matter if there are things about the candidate we don't agree with. At this stage getting DEMOCRATIC HEAD COUNTS in both the House and Senate is paramount.

I really hope we don't self-destruct before the elections, because there sure are forces out there doing their damndest to insure that happens
