According to the buffoon-in-chief, the US is working very closely with the Thai government in the rescue of the soccer players.
Take a look at the link. Shame on CNN for not questioning this assertion more closely. I dont doubt that US sailors and divers are ready and available, but theres no indication that theyve done anything to help. Other articles make clear who has been instrumental in this rescue operation, and it isnt Trump and doesnt the US government. As usual, shame on the buffoon.

(63,221 posts)a handful of rescuers from other countries, including the US, but we are hardly leading this effort. I am so sick of him capitalizing on every tragedy in order to make himself look good. He doesn't give a damn about those kids or their families. This is just another one of his disgusting, attention grabbing attempts to make himself look like a hero. He is such a pig!

(4,787 posts)...The Thais asked for assistance on 6/26; they arrived by 6/28. I believe they're the largest official group there from another country.
A team of 36 U.S. troops from Okinawa, Japan, has been dispatched to Thailand to assist in efforts to rescue 12 boys and their soccer coach stranded for nearly two weeks in a cave near the Thailand-Myanmar border, according to a report by Task & Purpose.
The troops include a search and rescue team, a survival expert and support personnel. They were deployed by U.S. Indo-Pacific Command from Kadena Air Base in Okinawa after the Royal Thai government requested U.S. assistance on June 26, Army Lt. Col. David Eastburn told T&P.
The U.S. service members are working alongside the Thai military and an international search and rescue team to devise methods to rescue the children and their coach from the Tham Luang Cave complex.

The U.S. troops including airmen from the 353rd Special Operations Group and the 31st Rescue Squadron arrived in Thailand on June 28.

They're really not talking up any specific group, except for the Brit caver-divers to some degree. (They seem to be a refreshingly non-drama bunch). Perhaps that's because the actual rescue was until today fraught with uncertainty.
Edited to add: Trump is a jackass. His 'taking credit' for anything is usually laced with bullshit intending to praise himself, not anyone who is actually involved in helping. Most people know that. Personally, I ignored these kinds of outbursts from him.

(33,643 posts)I'm all for calling Trump a liar when he lies (which as we know, happens daily) but I don't see Trump claiming the US is 'leading the effort', so ... you're kinda ginning up a complaint here, no offense.

Maybe Trump offered to send Jared Kushner to head the rescue effort?
