The Center for Investigative Reporting has learned that a Defense contractor detained migrant kids in vacant Phoenix office building:
This was all being done very secretively and might not have been reported, except that a neighbor noticed:
The kids were eventually moved, as secretively as they were brought in:
The Center for Investigative Reporting is doing a series on treatment of migrant children for their Reveal program on NPR radio. Check your local NPR station's listing for times.

(18,745 posts)We have a President who is calling human beings an infestation. We have thousands of people being rounded up and held in secret. Even members of Congress cant get in to see detainees or the conditions they are being held in.
We have seen this too many times in history, there is no doubt that mass graves will be found. That is always what happens when leaders call people animals and hide them away. I hope we can stop this in time. The prisoner guard relationship is prone to abuses when not hidden and when leadership isnt telling them they are guarding animals (thus excusing anything.) This is being hidden for horrible reasons, count on it.
People think it cant happen here. It is happening here, right now. There is no other reason to hide children prisoners other than to hide atrocities being commited. No one ever had to hide prisoners and their prisons if they were humane.

(18,745 posts)A significant portion of Trump voters will support it. Maybe half of them will either flat out support it without question or they'll say stuff like, "while it's regrettable that this happened, we need tough policy and it's the parents fault for putting their children in harms way."
About 25% of Trump voters want a genocide to happen in this country.
Know this, when, not if, atrocities are found to have occurred, it will 100% be Trump's fault. He's the one calling children animals and the thugs harming these children are taking their marching orders right from Trump.

(28,702 posts)in early May it was 108 degrees. the last time in June it went to 112. why are the children in sweatsuits? are they going into another icebox?
it's inconceivable what is going on here. anything we can imagine could be true. this is the trump cabal and nothing can be put past them.

(28,702 posts)this time we need to imprison them. everyone from nixon to reagan to gw walked away without consequence, and if that had not been true, trump never could have happened. republicans learned they were untouchable. not this time.

(1,204 posts)I notice on their careers page they seem to hire a lot of linguists, and they list legal and investigative services they provide. I personally would lean toward it being something along those lines instead of a death camp. I mean, at least until some more evidence suggests otherwise.
*The article seems to cover these facts... I should probably read before commenting.

When I checked their jobs page 2-3 weeks ago, there were tons of jobs available in Homestead (FL) - I didnt know there was a detention facility there until later...did not take a screenshot, unfortunately...at any rate, here are 154 current jobs available, all over the country:
https://mvminc.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/mvmcareers
Here you will see a job listing for Homestead site, and one for McAllen (this is where the cops were called on Sen. Jeff Merkley in early June):
From last Friday (Homestead):
Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo was denied entry into a
government facility housing child migrants.
"We fund all of their operations and all of their salaries,
so they should make the time and effort to allow us to
see the work they're doing." https://thebea.st/2uamKmc

(36,231 posts)I have been patient with the trumpers in my life so far, because the ones I know are mostly quiet & not inflammatory. (One exception & I've unfriended him.)
But after this travesty with the children? No. This is no longer a disagreement of politics, it's a disagreement of what constitutes human decency. If one still supports Trump, in light of everything we know & we've seen of this man's character, then one is not a truly decent human being.
