The View's Sunny Hostin shares disturbing story of racist abuse she suffered on family vacation

The View” co-host Sunny Hostin returned from a summer break with a disturbing story about racist abuse she and some friends suffered on the Fourth of July.

Hostin said she and her friends rented a cottage at a historically black beach, as they have for years, but their evening was interrupted July 4 by a group of teens shouting racial slurs.

“We were there celebrating, and some kids, about 20 of them, ran in front of our home, and started yelling the N-word at us,” Hostin said. “I have a video, of sort of the aftermath, when we realized they were targeting us.”

Hostin can be heard confronting the teens, who denied shouting the slurs and blamed another group.

“We called the police, I filed a police report,” she said. “The police were wonderful.”

But she said the teens’ language and actions were disturbing.

doesn't mean it can't happen, but I don't get out a lot these days, and when I have been hanging with this filipina/filipino family I know, and have heard some horror stories mostly coming from places like Barstow, and other Central California cities... and some places in southern California, Republican strongholds.. Things have become much worse since Trump has become President.

San Francisco to try to change the city from Liberal to conservative, the Churches have come to San Francisco to change souls and hearts but all they have done so far is bash Gays and Lesbians, and have tried to bring people like Trump here to influence people in the city, but its not going to work.. Californians are beyond blue... and the people who want to separate this state only give Republicans a footing in our state, its not going to happen! Maybe they will give up and go home, back to the southern states where they belong... unless you are politically Blue, we don't want them here.

encouraged and enabled kids. The operative word here people. Kids. Another generation of Confederates, Nazis, KKK in training, who will train theirs. We are americans who have to continually fight to be americans, Whoopie. I tell them you don't want to treat us decently, treat us as Americans, then go back to your country. Do a DNA check and get your racist white asses out of my country. I don't want to get an ulcer behind this shit because........well

I am really getting angry. Always have had to fight to be recognized as an American, hell, to become a fucking american. WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THIS RACIST bullSHIT!!!!!!!! is wrong with white people? WE built this country as a damned by white people race and a race enslaved by white people. Many of us, AA, have died in armed service to this country and those facts have always been shoved back in AA faces with the use of one word hatefully slung at AA....nigger. ALWAYS!!!!! Got to start rising up.

I REALLY DO HAVE TO LEAVE this evil, evil, always has been, evil country FULL of hateful, ignorant, stupid white people.

in Texas, where the anonymous witness reported the kids saying things about July 4th being for whites to celebrate "their" country and should have the right to lynch blacks etc.

If (some) white Gen-Z kids want to be the modern day version of Hitler Youth, they (and the parents) have to be held accountable for their actions. We need tougher laws for hate speech and hate driven harrassment.

Just goes to show you how Trump's America works, that even professional successful PoC are degraded by a bunch of white brats who feel superior on the basis of their skin color. Also shows you why it's not really about economics, as these kids aren't poor but middle and upper middle class. Trumpism spans across the white classes - his rise to power was/is driven by white racial aggression.

Millennial I have to say it's pretty disappointing to see the increase in racism from Generation Z. I felt my generation is the most tolerant generation but I also believed Generation Z would be even more tolerant than us. I have to say I have seen an increase in racism among young people in high school and middle school which is pretty depressing. Generation Z if they keep this up they are going to be known as the generation that made racism great again.

really generational. those millenials and gen y racists will pass it down to their kids . there will be cases where kids will do their own thing but i'm guessing those are the exceptions and most follow their parents.

and the reason younger people are more liberal is because each newer younger generation is more diverse than the ones before them.

also the number of people that went from Obama to Trump has been exaggerated. Clinton and Obama got about the same number of votes in 2012 and 2016. the difference is mostly due to voter suppression as a result of voting rights being struck down , russia, sexism, and lazy voters who thought clinton would win anyways.

the trump supporters(who didn't vote mccain and romney) were people who had not voted before. they viewed the republican party as being the same . as we have seen they hated bush for being too much pro immigration and letting in too many black/brown people. same with mccain and romney. Trump was the one who spoke to them and they came out to vote for him .

and for those who did vote for Obama they were probably bigots also. Obama's support among white people went down after he made the comments about how black/brown men are unfairly targeted by police during the professor gates incident. Obama held back on talking about race and other social issues. there was a lot of post racisl bs back then .

The economy crashed, Iraq War spiraling out of control, etc.

Even some racists - ie conservative populist Dixiecrat types who had been voting GOP since Reagan - came back and voted for Obama.

But once Obama started talking more about race etc the Dixiecrats reverted to form, and Trump's style and message (which is similar to George Wallace) fits them perfectly.

imagine what it will do to this generation. This is a social experiment we have not seen in this county. Alt right is targeting young people and creates racial divisions. We have not had this before, definately not in this instant digital age.

pretty disturbing that we are going to see a generation that is being brainwashed to be super racist through social media. They are kids whose parents are not racist but will end up being racist due to all the propaganda that is being fed to them through social media.

embracing of diversity, not just as a theory but in their everyday lives. They like to socialize and interact across cultural and racial lines.

Gen-Z is troubling, IMO, as there is an underlying alt-right streak that is abnormal for young whites who are usually socially liberal.

Even Boomer and Gen-X whites were liberal when young, then moved to the right later on.
