(51,554 posts)No president has ever done that. No president has been so utterly ignorant as to have needed to do that. He just told them he needed a Justice that will keep him out of jail, otherwise they could pick whoever they want. And so yes, a LOT of people were involved in your nomination: the entire Federalist Society, lobbyists and every right wing business interest who wanted to make sure they will win in front of SCOTUS next time they get sued for pollution, labor abuses, fraud, etc. Yep, you're a real group decision all right.
