Neighbors call cops on 12-year-old black kid for delivering newspapers

Bob Brigham 10 JUL 2018 AT 12:36 ET

Police in Ohio are denying that racial profiling played any part after police confronted a 12-year-old black paperboy in the latest scandal over people calling 9-1-1 to report “completely benign” behavior by people of color.

The child’s mother posted a Facebook post on Friday explaining the police response to delivering newspapers on the “first day” of the child’s paper route.

And I'm also compiling them on the Top 10. That way if people search this site for the word "civility" this is the first thing that comes up.

of course.

Imagine how evil a person would have to be to call the cops on that little angelic looking kid, just doing his job.

I weep over the evil that runs rampant in Trump's Amerika.

Seems like every day there are stories like this, let alone guns being drawn on kids, people being tased and so on. But if you are white and point guns at federal officials you get a presidential pardon.

Either they don't know that, so they're stupid.

Or they do know that.

you know, like having trump signs, wearing maga hats, clothing with flag motifs--should keep them busy for a while.

There should be a law that if you call 911 for non-emergency, and it ends up being something like this, the person that called should be forced to pay for the cost of the cops time, the 911 operators time, and any administrative costs. I'm sure it will about to 1000s if not 10s of 1000s of dollars.

It sounds like the neighbor's call was to report that someone was taking something from their neighbor's porch, not that someone was making a delivery.

The boy delivered a paper to the wrong house, and went back to get it.

The caller saw someone walk up to a porch empty handed, and leave with something.

With all the news stories about stolen packages from doorways,
the suspicious neighbor did the right thing.

But it got classified as racist?

Even the mother said as soon as she told the cop they were delivering papers, he left.

...if doing so fit my narrative.

I imaginatively call it "doing the right thing" too!

With a kid wearing a D.A.R.E. shirt?

And, they couldn't tell he was walking away with a newspaper?

Come on. Your rationale of their actions is ridiculous.

a paperboy doing his rounds, she shouldn’t be calling the cops. For fucks sake, it’s not that hard to not assume the worst of little kids.

he didn't have a radar gun. He could tell I was speeding because he estimated based on how fast he had to go to catch up with me. Ok fine. Then he proceeded to go to the passenger's side to talk to my white girlfriend to make sure everything was ok. Then came the backup. Coincidentally I was pulled over in front of her dad's house and he came out giving them all kinds of shit.
