So in the interest of keeping everyone sane, maybe we should ease up with the broken record routine.

The rules are known beforehand and you can only win given the boundaries provided by the rules. A few tens of thousands of people across a few states feeling too pure to vote, throwing their votes away or who had better things to do negated these 3 million more votes across the rest of the country.
Yes, the system sucks and it is undemocratic. That doesn't change the point behind saying that elections do have consequences.

And Democrats stayed home more:

"Registered voters who didn’t vote on Election Day in November were more Democratic-leaning than the registered voters who turned out, according to a post-election poll from SurveyMonkey, shared with FiveThirtyEight. In fact, Donald Trump probably would have lost to Hillary Clinton had Republican- and Democratic-leaning registered voters cast ballots at equal rates."

Our Presidential elections are the only elections I know of where the person with the most votes can lose. It is beyond ridiculous and the damage because of it since 2000 might bring about the end of our Country as we know it.

There are sparsely populated counties in most States but none have no made up system to make it more fair to them.

It’s a scam, we have paid dearly because of it, and will pay even more before somehow we go back to the obvious system where the most votes wins.

We lost because , once again , some dems decided to throw away their vote on stein or johnson or just not vote.

Dems really f'd up this time and gave away scotus and they were warned. They were warned that this potus might make 2-3 scotus picks.

Perhaps one day the dems will wake up and do what is needed to win elections instead of throwing fits on election day, refusing to vote for the party nom then blame everyone but themselves all the while yelling at the politicians they couldnt be bother to vote for , to save them.

Talking about the pure popular vote is a distraction since it's utterly irrelevant. You can dislike the Electoral Colleg, but it's not like it's new.

...used by the lowest common denominators who will allege how clever they actually are. It has no more depth nor substance than the equally banal "let's agree to disagree."

I'm guessing it's human nature to want to sound wise... the same human nature which often hoists us by our petards.

Any "consequences" of the last election can be cancelled by the "consequences" of the next election.

That's why whoever is elected is supposed to be governing in the best interests of everybody, not just the people that elected them.

The only reason not to do that is if you think for some reason that the next election won't have consequences.

"Any "consequences" of the last election can be cancelled by the "consequences" of the next election. "

Tell that to the individuals impacted under Trumps zero tolerance policy at the border. Or to those who die because they are going to lose their healthcare.

The consequences are real and cannot be undone. We can forge a better path moving forward.

If Trump got more, would you have abandoned the Electoral College?

No?

Then who cares how many more votes she got?
