Edited-Senate passed, 97-2, a NON BINDING motion reaffirming commitment to Article 5 (per ABC news)

Last edited Tue Jul 10, 2018, 09:25 PM - Edit history (1)

As Trump arrives in Brussels for NATO summit, the
Senate just passed, 97-2, a motion to "reaffirm the ironclad US
commitment under Article 5 to the collective defense of the
alliance," as @SenJackReed put it earlier today.

WASHINGTON — Lawmakers in Washington worked quickly Tuesday to set legislative guardrails in support of NATO as President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly bashed the alliance, arrived in Europe for a NATO summit and meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin later in the week.

Hours after Trump landed in Brussels, the Senate passed a non-binding measure, 97-2, that expresses support for NATO, its mutual self-defense clause and calls on the administration to rush its whole-of-government strategy to counter Russia’s meddling in the U.S. and other democracies.

ON EDIT:

*************Motion is non-binding
*************Means nothing, apparently

They're both libertarians. They hate NATO, which seems to be a requirement for a libertarian.

Then can move when they WANT to. He's so inept they use guardrails.
I don't think that's the biggest damage. It's the secrets and the election tampering Im worried about.

They didn't "move" anywhere. It is a non-binding resolution.

They just felt they had to do something useless to protect their phones baloney jobs.

There are two new threads in Latest speculating that Trump will pull out of NATO. The Senate is sending a message that they will work to override (idk if that is possible). One thing Trump cannot stand is embarrassing defeats.
