(1,580 posts)I think the message should be HIGHER WAGES AND GOOD HEALTHCARE FOR EVERYONE! (These are the two biggest issues that work for us. (Others could be: MAKE AMERICA SANE AGAIN! or A GOVERNMENT THAT BELONGS TO ALL OF US! or RECLAIMING AMERICA FOR THE MAJORITY! or FIGHTING FOR AMERICA'S WORKING FAMILIES!)
Whatever it is, it needs to be short, clear, strong, and compelling. Not just some bland crappy thing like "A BETTER DEAL." My god that SUCKS!
I like HIGHER WAGES AND GOOD HEALTHCARE FOR EVERYONE EVERYWHERE! All Democrats, progressive or centrist, can agree to it. It gives voters something tangible for their vote. And they are our two biggest issues. We win on healthcare and on the economy when we talk about higher wages. Too many people are working multiple low wage jobs.

(26,044 posts)Besides, thats just one poll the 538 rolling average has us up by a little under 9%. And its estimated that gerrymandering gives Republicans a baked-in 8% advantage, so we're just barely above that.

(21,596 posts)Hillary herself said it best: We have to run like we're 10 points behind.
And she wasn't kidding (when does she!).

(21,596 posts)That, I think, is what that bevy of GOP senators was doing in Moscow the other day: They were there to get Putin's personal assurance that his hackskis would steal the 2018 midterms for them.

(3,635 posts)and I hope Dems are ready for it this time.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
The Russians worked overtime in the 2017 French election to destroy Macron and get Le Pen elected. It failed however, as the French are an informed and savvy electorate who saw through it.

(3,363 posts)on the GCB is enough to make Republican gerrymandering actually work in Democrats' favor. If we actually maintain 13% through November and that is reflected in the votes, it's definite Senate and House flip territory.

(4,344 posts)nice and pleasing to see, but I'm going to be a spoiler here.
We did this in the last election. Most polls showed Hillary winning up to election day. And what happened? I think we all know. Stop rejoicing at poll numbers and get out there and register voters, work a precinct or a Democratic call center. And oh, if you have the means donate. But do not become overconfident until the returns come in on election night. Republicans literally take politics as a form of war. We should too.

(68,456 posts)Democrats the dangers of message voting and how the parties are not the same...in this case, the courts will do it. In order to stop Trump judges, we need the Senate a spread like this means we have a shot...double down and work very hard. we can do this...fired up and ready to go.

(2,640 posts)The individual races matter more.
We must make a net gain of 2 senate seats. Otherwise McTurtle is at the helm again.
I'm getting concerned about Florida and Missouri.

(68,456 posts)courts. This is why I am against primarying sitting Dems...spend the money on the Senate.
Dopers_Greed
(2,640 posts)Nearly all Senate seats up for re-election are solid red.
So Repubs are going to control the Senate until at least 2022 if we don't take it back in November.
