Seriously. What do we ever gain, or accomplish, by playing nice? The other guys never do. They go sneaky and nasty and devious and we always get rolled.

This is POLITICS, people. If you want nice rules that are about everybody playing nice, then you belong in a supervisor’s job at some daycare center or preschool play yard. NOT in Congress!

I’ve been asking for a long time by now: WHERE are OUR devious thinkers???? Chuck “The Doormat” Schumer doesn’t cut it. With my deepest apologies to our beloved and brilliant and compassionate former First Lady, Michelle Obama, when they go low, we have to go even lower. And nastier. And for those who say that’s not who we are, that lofty “who we are” stuff is unfortunately who we WERE. Along time ago. Before the Newt Gingrich “Slash ‘n’ Burn” era. Who are we now? The ones who get burned. And rolled. Because we’re still too busy playing nice.

And activist think tanks at that. They’re pretty deep and lavish on that side of the aisle. And they’ve got some very deep pockets in the Kochs and Shel Adelson and the Mercers who aren’t afraid to write gargantuan checks. Where are ours?

I’m looking at YOU, Michael Bloomberg. And YOU, Tom Steyer. And YOU, David Geffen. And where’s Bill Gates when we need him? And George Soros - yeah, him! He’s a big boogeyman whose name always pops up from the whiners and yowlers who complain that our side is rolling in dough. And George Clooney and Jay-Z and Beyoncé and the rest of liberal Hollywood? They need to step up.

And YOU, Zuckerberg. Dude, you have a long way to go to get back in the good graces of everyone you FAILED with Facebook becoming utterly infected by Cambridge Analytica - while you did NOTHING. Here's your chance to atone. Put your money where your patriotism is supposed to be! It's not like YOU can't afford it.

Republicans are whiny pieces of shit, but they are loud and they get attention. Doesn't hurt that they represent the interests of the oligarchs that own the media companies, but this whole idea of complaining about every stupid little thing and "working the refs" has been the Republican strategy and they have worked with it to devastating effect.

We Democrats do need to fight harder and be loud. Call a liar a liar. Tell the people how Republicans are sitting there while all of the institutions and traditions of this country are being destroyed.

The other day I read something by a Holocaust survivor, I believe. 10% of the people are always cruel, 10% of the people are always merciful, & the other 80% can be swayed. The other thing I read was that an authoritarian doesn't need a majority of the population's support, only about 40%, as long as they are die-hard supporters. Guess where Trump's numbers have been sitting, pretty consistently throughout his term? He got in through a rigged electoral system, & he could stay in cuz of his base.

There have always been subversive traitors and hideous anti-humanity thugs just plotting and waiting. Obama’s massive popularity and dignity, decency, integrity scared the hell out of them.

We were unprepared for the depth of the hate and fear he would generate, and so viciously.

The “war” is clearly going to be brutal no matter the form, and we can’t be placid, accepting or typically peaceable. Even though that is totally our nature, as a people and a party.

But damn we HAVE to fight. We have to re-educate our lines of battle and our processes. The lives and freedoms we lose will most definitely be personal.

The #IPOTUS is totally incapable of planning anything past his next meal - maybe not even that.
His recklessness however, is killing the country.
His cabinet appointments are all much more skilled at implementing their destructive agendas, his SCOTUS appointments will have lasting corrosive effects on our justice system, and - worst of all - his followers, in the tens of millions, will still be here long after the menace has been stilled.
This country has survived many calamities and much injustice in its' 242 years, but we have never had a situation quite like this one where the POTUS is a the tool of an opposing nation.
Nance can be hyperbolic at times but his observation on the lack of widespread public opposition to this administration is telling and starkly accurate.
What will it take? Will there ever be a uprising against this atrocious administration?
It's happened before - good country's go bad very quickly and often quietly.

You know if by some miracle Dems control both the House and Senate, the Dotard will try and make deals with them. I have family who are Trumpers and their ignorance is profound. My brother-in-law, who is very wealthy, was crowing about how Trump’s tough talk got North Korea to the bargaining table. My jaw dropped and then I just moved on to another subject. His sons, who are educated, shot me looks like “we give up too”. The ignorance is stunning and scary.

I'm trying to avoid being distraught through distracting myself with entertainment, and taking klonopin.

I'm going to watch the season finale of Handmaids Tale this afternoon, so don't know how much of a distraction it will be.

November is absolutely critical. If the dems don't win back control of at least one chamber, this country will be unrecognizable by 2020. He still has 2.5 years to go in this term!

But even winning one chamber isn't a guarantee we'll survive this, only that we may be able to thwart the worst of the damage. But only if the dems stay united & hold strong, not something I have a lot of confidence in. We'll let the blue dogs off the hook for voting with the GOP.

They have Steph, Thom Hartmann, Democracy Now, Bill Press, and a lot of other terrific content.

Amazon Fire TV used to have the FSTV app, but I think they got rid of it. Anyway, their app never worked as well as the Roku version.

If you have the IHeartRadio app on any platform, you can listen to Steph on KABQ 1350 out of Albuquerque.

Because IHeart is a conservative company (They used to be ClearChannel), and it sucks for them that one of their most popular talk radio stations is a progressive station out of Albuquerque, NM.

One can still watch it after the show is over at the Free Speech TV video link. Ignore the date. The re-run is available until the next show begins. You may have to sit through several minutes of "The Girl From Iponema." However, you can toggle forward to skip over it.

She usually puts the Malcolm Nance segments on her YouTube page.

I think of all the actual professionals and public servants who actually care about the country and what they're doing in their job, who have spent years taking care and thinking and writing and planning-- and this Trump comes in and trashes everything-- says that nothing matters but him.

It's got to be horrifying. Decades of an alliance, for example, of diplomacy, and he just thunders in and smashes it.
So many people in the government and law enforcement must be thinking that their entire careers were wasted.

I am beyond annoyed that so few people and virtually no one in congres is saying this. The sole goal of his presidency and administration is to transition US democracy to authoritarian oligarchy, precicely Putin’s Russia. Putin had succesfully consolidated power over a few years controlling congress, judicial system including Russia’s supreme court and all mass media. And he is also trying to control internet now. Trump is doing exact same thing, there is no doubt he is consulted and directed by putin to achieve this goal. Real journalists and dem politicians (in critical districts) may become increasingly threatened by militia groups who won’t be prosecuted easily. There are corporate ways to consolidate media via board of directors and changing networks like cnn, msnbc and others to increasingly resemble state propaganda. One of the most knowledgeble people on this subject in the US is Masha Gessen, she knows exactly what’s happening and why Americans at large can’t comprehend the scope of it because it is so terrifying that most just irrationaly deny it. Far too many people in this country beleive that constutition will protect us, this notion could not be further from the truth and, in fact, dangerous. US Constitution is being used much like Bible these days to justify anything.

Trump is great at organizing his "agents" to hide his activities and motives.

Nunes gives Trump congressional cover.
