if it was due to the increase in the cost of water, and I was told it was because of the increase in minimum wage. I said that is good, I will gladly pay for that increase.
A different situation happened when I went to whole foods. I saw a person filling her box up with food, which you pay for by weight, eating a substantial amount from the box before taking it to the cashier. That is the same thing as stealing, and no, this person did not seem to be undernourished, poor, or without sufficient funds. They were simply taking advantage of a situation.

(12,640 posts)If my employer won't pay me more when profits are increasing due to my expected normal good work - instead of doing that work himself or herself, I'll ask for more. Or I'll find someone who will pay me more to do the same job I'm doing at my employer's.
Likewise, if it's getting more expensive for me to survive on that paycheck, I'm fully within my right to ask for a raise after I've been working for a while. If I'm unhappy with the remuneration for the work of my body, it behooves me to tell my employer, and between us, we can discuss the ramifications to both our livelihoods.
It's called a communication and respect, and it is critical that it goes both ways when adults are working together to do a job.
