TX-SEN: I have a genuine concern about this race

Will people show up for Beto in November and skip the rest of the ticket? I would hate to see all of that money, time and energy spent on a 40/50 race and leave talented down-ballot candidates twisting in the wind.

And it's not a zero-sum game. There are a lot of resources being directed at Texas this cycle by Democrats, local and national, and no one is neglecting candidates for the House by donating to O'Rourke. People are donating to competitive House races too.

Not only that, but even if O'Rourke does not prevail, which (if it happens - I'm keeping an open mind) will only be because Texas isn't quite ready to flip yet, all of the enthusiasm he's generating will easily carry over to House races and get out the vote for them too.

I wouldn't worry.

. . . state lege candidates should benefit from top-of-the-ticket turnout as well. It's hard to see how Beto running this terrific campaign and raising all this money is a bad thing. It's getting people excited, and in the event that's not enough (this time) statewide, it could be enough in smaller areas for U.S. House or state lege areas.
