Stormy Daniels arrested after strip club performance in Ohio: lawyer
Stormy Daniels, the adult film star suing the President after an alleged affair, has been arrested in Ohio, according to her lawyer.
Michael Avenatti said that his client, who was paid $130,000 not to discuss the alleged affair during the 2016 campaign, was “arrested in Columbus, Ohio, performing the same act she has performed across the nation at nearly a hundred strip clubs.”
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, launched the tour shortly after she began to talk about her interactions with Trump, which she says also includes being threatened in a Las Vegas parking garage and intimidated into staying silent.
“This was a setup & politically motivated. It reeks of desperation. We will fight all bogus charges,” Avenatti said.
He added that she was arrested for a misdemeanor “allowing a customer to touch her while on stage in a non sexual matter” though it. was not clear under exactly which law she was arrested.
Ohio’s Community Defense Act prohibits people from touching naked or semi-naked dancers.
The Columbus Division of Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Avenatti called the arrest a “sting operation” and said Daniels was expected to be released on bail shortly.
Columbus strip club Sirens said on its website that Daniels was scheduled to perform there Wednesday and Thursday night.
Daniels is suing Trump and his personal lawyer Michael Cohen over the legality of the alleged hush payment, which Trump has acknowledged directing, and she also filed an additional suit against Trump for defamation.
