Unless an anemic guard of honor, it's almost the same as in Brussels ! Not even an old carpet punched out !
Not really what we are used to from Britain...

I don't know if it has been lifted or not. In case of doubt, I'll stay away from Brussels a few more days.

(20,874 posts)I bet there was a red carpet, band and dignitaries. Watching this made me laugh. He looks angry he wasnt greeted like a king.

I picked exactly the same video.
I found a few ones on his arrival, but all are work visit. It is different and generally doesn't have much decorum. However, Obama was always greatly welcomed, decorum or not, day or night. I found an arrival by night, and still better than the cheetos arrival !
Trump is also on a work visit but it is not the same. It's another protocol .

Will the Orange Shitstain get a 21 gun reception at a palace?

(12,538 posts)There weren't any guards or red carpet. Just handshakes from the people who were there to greet Michelle and him.
Of course, that was at night, and the occasion was the G8. It wasn't one of Trump's "It's all about ME!" visits.
Remember when the red carpet wasn't rolled out for Obama in China and Trump said he'd tell the pilot to leave if the same thing happened to him?
Neither does he, apparently.
Be proud of him
One of the countless video showing how much Barack Obama is respected.
Not sure Trump will greeted with a 41-gun salute...

(5,101 posts)In fact, to be fair, there is not always a red carpet. It depends on the kind of visit, the protocol applied,... But I don't want to be fair when it comes to Trump
Here, I feel there is something wrong. Even if it is a work visit,it is not the same as a NATO or G7, G20 summits. In theory, the decorum should be a little better.
I have the feeling, no one bothers anymore to save a minimum of appearances
