(1,068 posts)When the English say they are getting a crowd together and having a party, you can bet it is going to be a wild one. The people that arranged 45 inauguration can learn a lot from the English.

(4,290 posts)Im considering traveling across the pond next year and was dreading telling people there that Im from the USA, anticipating angry comments or worse. My extended family there understands despite the fact that they dare not travel here now (their being of Latino heritage). And that hurts.
Im putting Great Britain back on my itinerary for now. Who knows? Some of these protestors might even buy me a pint once they learn that we share our disdain for the giant, gas-filled, orange-and-piss-colored-cotton-candy-coiffed big baby.

(260 posts)We were there last Sept, for our first ever trip and we never got a negative comment directed at us. We did get a lot of commiseration from those we voiced our opinions too. One high light was when a guy in a pub thought we were Canadians, mostly because we were calm and relaxed he said.
They're discerning enough to separate the people from the criminal cabal in charge.

(27,794 posts)My boyfriend bought a CD from a band in a pub, and the couple whose table we were sharing teased him - "you tourist!" and I said that we wanted to spend as much money outside of the US as possible while Trump was in office. Their mood lightened visibly when we said that, and they laughed.

The Queen referred to her bone spurs obliquely in an official statement issued on Thursday. We are sorry to have to cancel the engagement, but we feared that meeting Donald Trump would be most painful, the Queens statement read.
