Man seen harassing a woman for wearing Puerto Rican flag shirt charged with hate crime

?s=19

COOK COUNTY, Ill. --

The man seen in a viral video harassing a woman for wearing a Puerto Rican flag shirt has been charged with a hate crime.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office said Timothy Trybus, 62, has been charged with two counts of felony hate crime. He had previously been charged with misdemeanor assault for the incident.

Trybus was caught on camera last month verbally harassing Mia Irizarry in the Forest Preserves of Cook County in June. The video shows him approaching her, asking why she is wearing a Puerto Rican flag shirt with the words "Puerto Rico" written below the neckline.

Irizarry can be heard asking a park police officer for help, and telling him that she is uncomfortable. The officer is seen walking away.

As Trybus continues to harass her other officers arrived and a female police officer finally steps in on behalf of Irizarry.

The officer, identified by authorities as Patrick Connor, resigned Wednesday night. He was supposed to face a disciplinary hearing Thursday.

And having another job is okay. Just not as a policeman. Which he won't be. Law enforcement is a group thing...word gets around.

There are some fairly strict laws about that.

Now, in this particular case, since the disciplinary hearing didn't take place, there is no formal paper trail, so you might be right.

So, it would be public information that would potentially derail him, but not an official disciplinary action.

Puerto Rico has been a U.S. Territory since 1898. Puerto Ricans, since 1917, are by law citizens of the United States and may come and go freely between the island and the mainland.

On second thought, it's perfectly natural for a right-wing nutcase, with no respect for anyone's personal boundaries. One shouldn't expect anything more from a zombie fascist.

Rita Moreno!

Rita Moreno has had a thriving acting career for the better part of six decades. One of the very few performers (and the very first) to win an Oscar, an Emmy, a Tony and a Grammy, she was born Rosita Dolores Alverío in Humacao, Puerto Rico, on December 11, 1931, to seamstress Rosa María (Marcano) and farmer Francisco José "Paco" Alverío. She was in The King and I, Westside Story, Singin' in the Rain, The Four Seasons (with Alan Alda), and many other productions over her 6 decades in the biz.

She was awarded th ePresidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush in June 2004.

It's a genuine hate crime and he was targeting her based on skin color.

It was impossible to target her as a foreigner considering that she is a citizen.
