Open Letter to Bob Goodlatte

Sir:

Having watched today’s proceedings, I was not the least surprised at the childishness, the grandstanding, the pettiness, and the outright bullshit-flinging your party’s members demonstrated for all to see.

Admittedly, it was highly entertaining to hear Republicans question Mr. Strozk’s honesty, credibility, and integrity given their unwavering support of a “pResident” who has been proven to be a liar, a cheat, and a puppet who continues to do everything in his power to please Vladimir Putin, to the detriment of his own country. Particularly amusing were references to Mr. Strozk’s affair being raised by those who defend a self-proclaimed “pussy grabber” whose lecherous and adulterous behaviour is known to everyone on the planet.

Hearing Republicans accusing Peter Strozk of bringing shame on the FBI and causing that agency irreparable damage was particularly ludicrous, given that the “pResident” your party wholly supports has made statement after statement denigrating the FBI since he took office. Apparently, not a single Republican considers that constant assault on our nation’s premier law enforcement agency is in any way causing irreparable damage.

But what struck me to my core was your closing statement that Mr. Strozk’s refusal to answer questions about an ongoing investigation into the Russian assault on our democratic elections was an obstruction to Congress performing its oversight duties of the executive branch.

When did the Republicans perform their oversight duties when your “pResident” and his closest advisors repeatedly lied about their contacts with Russian operatives? Where are your oversight duties when your “pResident” insults our allies, and sings the praises of Putin – the man he is suspected of colluding with in order to undermine our democracy?

In what way did your party demonstrate their oversight duties when their “pResident” agreed to end the military exercises that protect our ally, South Korea, in exchange for a “promise” from Kim Jung-Un that has already been broken?

Where is your duty of oversight when your “pResident” initiates a trade war resulting in tariffs that will cost Americans their jobs, and will have a detrimental effect on our nation’s economy?

Your party’s failures to exercise its obligation to act as a check on an out-of-control “president” constitute a very long list. In short, sir, your party has completely ignored that obligation since electing a “pResident” who has never failed to demonstrate his ignorance of international and domestic affairs, the basic workings of our government, and has repeatedly sought to undermine the very foundations of our democracy.

What came out of today’s farce was the confirmation of what has been suspected all along: the Republican party is not the least bit interested in the truth. They are not the least bit interested in finding out who among us colluded with the Russians in order to gain political power. They are not the least bit interested in defending and protecting our country and their fellow citizens.

Make no mistake, Mr. Goodlatte – there will be a day of reckoning, and that day is quickly approaching. When Mr. Mueller releases his report, we will know the full extent of your “pResident’s” corruption, as well as the full extent of your party’s failure to exercise its duty of oversight in order to protect and defend our nation.

I look forward to that day, sir. It will be the day that people like you will have to answer for your consistent efforts to shut-down any investigations into the Russians’ attack on our country, our democracy, and the principles for which our nation stands.

sounded like they feared getting caught by the FBI. As for Screwy Louie Gohmert, shock treatments are in order.
