...with the personnel of the 89th MAW (Military Airlift Wing). This is the unit that flies Air Force One, and all the other VIP planes. Every single member in that unit - the pilots, the stewards, the mechanics - takes that job very seriously and take pride in perfection. My husband was assigned to that unit for the final 8 years of the Air Force career. He was not one of the presidential pilots, but flew first ladies, members of congress, and visiting dignitaries.

the sleek blue and white pattern, inaugurated under JFK? I read that it was Jacqueline who supervised that design (along with her tasteful and historic interior re-design of the White House itself).

But evidently class is now to be replaced by crass.
