July 25th is when his first trial is supposed to start in Alexandria. His lawyers pissed off the judge by saying they didn't have enough time to prepare because it took 2 hours of driving each way to visit him at his jail, so the trial should be postponed to allow them more time. Judge Ellis decided to solve the problem by re-locating Manafort to the jail in Alexandria. The lawyers said NO, on second thought, he's better off staying where he is. The judge said, too bad, and moved Manafort to the Alexandria jail anyway.
So it seems unlikely that the judge will grant the requests that still have to be decided -- to postpone the trial till after the one in September D.C. trial, and to move the Virginia trial to Roanoke -- but all we know is he's ruling soon (I think I remember it was to be Friday).
IF the judge says the trial starts on time, then the pressure is on for some kind of plea deal between now and the 25th. There is a MOUNTAIN of evidence in a largely paperwork case. But reports say Mueller has asked for 250 blank subpoenas. Enough to call in 125 witnesses. Meanwhile, Manafort is sitting in his much-less-cushy cell in Alexandria, probably getting more and more terrified.
Or I would be if I were him.
