Bracing for $2 billion in higher fuel costs this year, Delta Air Lines expects will raise fares and trim service, executives said Thursday.
The airline has already offset two-thirds of the nearly $600 million in higher fuel cost during the second quarter, CEO Ed Bastian told investment analysts during an earnings call. Average fares are up 4 percent from 2017, he said.
While this is good progress, there is still more to be done, Bastian said.
The carrier plans to reduce its capacity up to 1 percentage point through the end of the year, according to President Glen Hauenstein.

(33,643 posts)There's really no obvious 'right side to be on' if you're intellectually honest, and call yourself 'liberal'.
That being said, Trumps 'motive' for higher fuel costs has NOTHING to do with environmental concern, that much is obvious. It's all about his friends in Russia'r, KSA, and the Fracking Biz, and making them rich. Let me be clear on that.

(51,372 posts)It would be one thing if they were rising due to a tax to fund public transportation and green energy development, like here in CA. But even then it is very unpopular because working people shoulder the heaviest burden.
Sadly, all of the windfall profits of these latest fuel cost spikes go right into the pockets of the rich, powerful snd unscrupulous, i.e. scum like Putin.
