The Sun, EXCLUSIVE ,"TRUMP'S BREXIT BLAST Donald Trump told Theresa May how to do Brexit but she wrecked it and says the US trade deal is off," By Tom Newton Dunn, July 13, 2018.
In a world exclusive interview with The Sun, the US President said Theresa May had ignored his advice by opting for a soft Brexit strategy. DONALD Trump today accuses the PM of wrecking Brexit and warns she may have killed off any chance of a vital US trade deal. The US President delivers his incendiary verdict on her negotiating strategy in a world exclusive interview with The Sun.
In an extraordinary intervention timed to coincide with his UK visit, Mr Trump said Theresa May ignored his advice by opting for a soft Brexit strategy. And he warned her any attempts to maintain close ties with the EU would make a lucrative US trade deal very unlikely. Mr Trump said: If they do a deal like that, we would be dealing with the European Union instead of dealing with the UK, so it will probably kill the deal....(more)
His comments, damaging to the Prime Minister, come as he delivers his most brutally honest verdict yet on Britain in which he also:

*FOLLOWING THE EXPLOSIVE SUN INTERVIEW, TRUMP MEETS WITH THERESA MAY*
PRAISE: "HIGHEST LEVEL OF SPECIAL" Donald Trump heaps praise on the UK and says whatever you do with Brexit is okay with me just make sure you can trade with us Standing next to the PM at a press conference at Chequers, the President said he's confident that a trade deal WILL happen once the UK has quit the EU," By Alain Tolhurst and Hugo Gye, July 13, 2018.
DONALD Trump today urged Theresa May to make sure her Brexit deal lets Britain strike a trade agreement with the US saying: "That's all that matters." Standing next to the Prime Minister at a press conference at Chequers, the President said: "Once the Brexit process is concluded and perhaps the UK has left the EU - I don't know what you're going to do, but whatever you're going to do is OK with me - just make sure you can trade with us, that's all that matters." He went on to say: "The trade is a little bit tricky."
Mr Trump also lavished praise on Mrs May in the wake of the bruising comments he made about the PM in his interview with The Sun. He echoed many of his comments from the wide-ranging Sun interview, but appeared to soften his stance in front of the TV cameras. The President said: "Once the Brexit process is concluded and perhaps the UK has left the EU - I don't know what you're going to do, but whatever you're going to do is OK with me - just make sure you can trade with us, that's all that matters." He added: "We want to trade with the UK and the UK wants to trade with us."
And asked to rate the strength of the Special Relationship, Mr Trump replied: "I give our relationship with the UK, in terms of a grade, the highest level of special." Mr Trump made his comments following a lunchtime summit between the pair after watching a joint US and UK military demonstration at Sandhurst army base. It was just hours after The Sun's world exclusive saw him say of the Chequers plan: "If they do a deal like that, we would be dealing with the European Union instead of dealing with the UK, so it will probably kill the deal....more.

(41,052 posts)One broadcaster last night said he doesn't like 'liberal' Britain and Western European democracies. They're 'weak' I guess, and not led by mucho macho strongman types, or extreme militarists.. Kaiser Wilhelm II, German Emperor for example as someone wrote here, lol.

(6,384 posts)When talking about the brexit plan, he says repeatedly when asked like five different times, that he told her what to do but never actually says what it was.
That's because he probably either never said anything or said soemthing that even he knows is ridiculous.
It's all about making him, as said by Donny Deutsch on morning joe this morning, the center of attention that can fix everything if only everyone would just do what he says.

(41,052 posts)through, not organized or explained. So bizarre. After the explosive interview with The Sun political editor last night, Trump met with May, praising her and 'whatever she wants to do' to smooth things over, which I just added to the post.
Much of it is what he's used to doing and apparently he needs and receives attention, even if negative. The way counselors and parents describe kids!
