Franklin Graham tells Jimmy Carter that Jesus would kill gay people, not marry them

By Bil Browning · Thursday, July 12, 2018

Responding to former President Jimmy Carter’s statement that Jesus would support same-sex marriage, Trump supporter and supposed Christian, Franklin Graham launched a blistering attack on Facebook.

Jesus wouldn’t bless gay couples, the far right minister says. Instead, God would kill them all.

“Jesus didn’t come to promote sin, He came to save us from sin,” Graham wrote. “The Bible is very clear. God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of homosexuality. God defines sin in His Word—it’s not up to our opinion, the latest poll, or a popular vote.”

“God loves us and gives us the truth in His Word. He warns us of the serious consequences of sin,” Graham finished before launching into one of the Bible verses that evangelicals use to condemn LGBT people.

Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.
It’s about as simple as can be. Carter gets it and has lived his life according to it. Frankie, not so much.

In an interview with HuffPost Live, Carter, a born-again Christian, was asked about his personal views on homosexual marriage. "That's no problem with me," the Democratic former president replied. "I think that everybody should have a right to get married, regardless of their sex."

Later on in the interview, Carter said he believes Jesus would "approve" of gay marriage, though he doesn't "have any verse in Scripture" to back that up. "I think Jesus would encourage any...love affair if it was honest and sincere and was not damaging to anyone else and I don't see that gay marriage damages anyone else," he said.

It's all hate speech on Graham's part using arbitrary snippets from archaic collections haphazardly compiled over millennia. It's easier to form or defend an ideology when the materials, let alone the audience, are so easily manipulated.

President Carter actually gets it... Graham doesn't and doesn't truly want to.

Graham's no follower of what Jesus taught but rather another "false prophet", a spreader of hate, fear and lies, selling ignorance, have and fear based redemption to those unable to think critically and research for themselves. His greed, hate and hypocrisy is as bottomless as the black pit he and the other 'goats' will someday fall into.

Evangelical 'Christianity ' is heretical. They also have no clue about the Bible, as evidenced by his BS interpretation of the Sodom and Gemorra story, which had to do with hospitality, not homosexuality.

if the stories are true. Creating gay people so he can hate them while they're alive and torture them forever after they die isn't out of character at all for this god.

The real question is why any decent person would worship such a god.

31. Most ancient religions pre single God religions had several gods.
Fri Jul 13, 2018, 06:43 PM
Jul 2018

Each was worshiped for a specific reason, and often the gods had rivalries where they would basically trash people that worshiped their rival God. When the single God religions came about many centuries before Christianity, believers transferred the rivalry between the gods to rivalries between each other, hence droughts and floods being visited upon rivals and doors of the good being marked so that death angels can strike dead a specific person in unmarked homes (which sort of ignores the possibility that an all seeing angel would know which houses to strike without any being marked). The history of religion is facinating, how certain ritual came about has roots that go back centuries before modern religions even came about.

It merely sets the premise that there is a god and allows all of these New Christians to come in with a twisted interpretation of a bible that they have never read. The New Christians have set up a religion that rewards them for their ignorance and holds them blameless for their abject poverty. It supports their notions of white supremacy, while giving them many enemies to wage their wars against. That is why we are in the position we are in.
