(14,971 posts)What's needed is to reform our laws. I'm not a fan of ICE, btw . It makes a nice slogan but won't solve anything.

(3,344 posts)Abolishing ICE is the correct thing to do. We should fight for it.
Republicans were told for decades that fighting against Roe v Wade was a loser. Who is laughing now?

(14,824 posts)Using the term "abolish ICE" mobilizes their voting base. We need to focus on the abomination of separating the families.

(396 posts)Make the Rethugs defend what they've done. The problem is there aren't many who have the will to fight the Right on this.

(31,261 posts)Or kick ourselves in our own balls. The key issue is knowing what we are fighting to accomplish. The abolish ICE people don't have a clue as to what exactly they want to accomplish. The goal should be to reform our immigration laws and reform ICE. ICE had a reasonable charter when it was formed, but over the years since the organization has become heavy on hiring Nazi types and light on hiring thinking administrators and field officers that have a clear and well defined mission and are regulated to insure that the organization is working toward that mission.

(5,490 posts)Think how much better reform ICE would be? What Abolish ICE sounds like to undecided centrists is Ignore immigration issues. Time to stop chopping our own heads off and serving them to the Republicans on a platter.
