NYTAs she stood atop a table in a packed Bronx billiards hall to deliver her victory speech, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez who by morning would be one of the most talked-about names in American politics reeled off a list of other progressive candidates she said needed to be sent to Congress: Ayanna Pressley in Massachusetts, for example, or Cori Bush in Missouri.
By morning, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez had also trumpeted Ms. Bush and Ms. Pressley to her fast-growing Twitter following. Within the week, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez had dispatched her volunteers to canvass for Cynthia Nixon, Zephyr Teachout and Julia Salazar, candidates for New York governor, attorney general and State Senate.
Ms. Pressley gained 5,000 Twitter followers in 24 hours. More than 120 volunteers have signed up for Ms. Teachouts campaign this week. In the same period, Ms. Salazar has raised more than $20,000.

Women in politics have long banded together to craft formal policy and to share informal tips. Emilys List, the influential national organization that works to elect Democratic women, runs a 5,000-member Facebook group for women who are seeking office, considering a bid or supporting other female candidates. Several of the candidates Ms. Ocasio-Cortez has embraced noted that their collaborations predated last Tuesdays primary.

(5,780 posts)2. So you are saying the party shouldn't have primaries?
https://ballotpedia.org/Cori_Bush
Well I see your point. Woman of Courage from the Emmett Till Legacy Foundation sounds like someone who is wearing a MAGA hat to me
I'm not saying Lacy Clay is a bad guy, but the party holds primaries. I personally liked Brad Ashford when he was congressman in NE-2, and he ran to retake the seat he lost in 2016. But he lost in a primary to a younger woman candidate who is a little further left politically - Kara Eastman.
I don't see the problem. If other Dems like Clay, they'll come support him. If not...
Bush was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo. She is an ordained pastor and a registered nurse who supervises "nursing services for several mental health facilities in St. Louis city that serve the homeless, underserved, underinsured and uninsured." She is an activist and organizer with numerous organizations in the St. Louis area. She received a 2015 Woman of Courage award from the Emmett Till Legacy Foundation.

I remember her from that Brand New Congress crap the Bernie people started in 2016. For people not familiar or may not remember:

A non-partisan PAC. Yep. They're still around. They're running a Republican in TN. That's helpful.

I do because it is all about the Our Revolution gang, not is what is good for MO or the country
Plus her other antics make false statements against Democrats and associations with Susan Sarandon and the like who refused to vote for the Democratic nominee in 2016, I want nothing to do with her divisive bullshit

That seemed to work out OK.
