He can courtesy to the Saudi King but not bow to the English Queen?

He tried to strongman the Queen
Kept her waiting
Refused to bow
Walked in front of her in a serious breach of protocol

Guarantee he did not try and pull that shit with Kim
He certainly gave that really odd half bow half courtesy to the Saudis
Pretty sure he will be on time for Putin

He is a insecure little fucker who tried to make himself feel good by trying to treat a 92 year old lady as somehow less than him. She is the QUEEN for fucks sake

What a complete and utter wanker

Trump's a rude POS, but Americans aren't "subjects" and I'm not sure they're expected to "bow" or "curtsey" to anyone.

Back in the '80s the queen the US and a couple of silly politically connected women 'curtseyed" to the Queen and were laughed at by the press.

But he was in England. Rude not to extend that courtesy. And given how strong an ally that the U.K. has been to us over the years, bowing is a courtesy that any president should feel compelled to do.

The president of the United States is not expected to bow or curtsy to anyone since they are considered peers of every other head of state. But it is not uncommon for a male head of state to dip his head slightly when greeting another head of state - particularly a woman - in the way that most men do when greeting others, as a sign of respect.

So Trump not formally bowing to the Queen is not a breach of protocol. But his failure to show her any sign of respect - and his insistence on practically elbowing her out of the way when reviewing her own troops is, sadly but typically, about as boorish a move as one would expect from a rude, ignorant boor like him.

When the queen was in the States in the early '80s a couple of political wives curtsied to her. They were soundly ridiculed for it.

You are, of course, correct. No head of state should really bow to another head of state. The issue at hand here, though, is really just making fun of him for what he did in Saudi Arabia and pointing out he's a misogynist again.

but rather than apologize, I bought a T shirt that did it for me. It said "I'm sorry my president is an idiot. I didn't vote for him" in four languages.

Since I'm planning another trip there this summer, I started looking for it, but I guess I threw it out, thinking I wouldn't need it anymore.

My trip is in late August -- I'm hoping that the Mueller investigation will have him at least half out the door by then..

34. This reminds me a lovely, but heartbreaking story about Jacqueline Kennedy
Sat Jul 14, 2018, 07:06 PM
Jul 2018

Before John and Jacqueline Kennedy met Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip in 1961, Mrs. Kennedy asked Angier Biddle Duke, the Chief of Protocol, whether she should curtsy. Duke told her, "No. You're the wife of a head of state and heads of state and their wives don't go around bowing and curtsying to each other."

Two years later, after President Kennedy's funeral, Mrs. Kennedy received guests in the family quarters. Prince Phillip was among them (Queen Elizabeth didn't attend the funeral because she was very pregnant). When Prince Phillip approached Mrs. Kennedy, she dropped him a curtsy. Ambassador Duke, who was standing nearby, was shocked because, he said, she rarely got her protocol wrong.

Noting the surprised look on Duke's face, Mrs. Kennedy whispered to him, "But Angie, I am no longer the wife of a head of state."

Duke said he had to excuse himself to go to another room to weep, the first time he cried after the assassination.

That story still makes me cry.

But damn if I will bow to anyone in respect for their ‘lineage’. Don’t want the US President doing it either.

Now in Asia where a bow is good manners and everyone bows to each other, that is another story.

This one time he did not fuck up. Then he turns and walked in front of her totally ignoring good protocol and manners. Hell, I always let a my wife, mother, sister etc go first. It’s called manners.

It took me weeks to stop bowing in grocery and department stores at the end of my transactions. I got some pretty strange looks, and I sometimes wondered if people thought I was having some sort of seizure.
