I think Congress, the CIA, and the FBI know also. I also think they have irrefutable proof that the actual votes were tampered with.
I also think that this knowledge will not be made public for many many years for fear of massive de-stabilization on a worldwide scale.

(6,881 posts)All that about the Russian hacking having no effect on the election is nonsense. Russian hackers stole emails and passwords from the DNC and Russian spies passed it along to Wikileaks, which did considerable damage to the party, the campaign and the candidate. They might as well have taken over a media outlet, like Fox News. Oh yeah, they did.

(11,370 posts)To stop it from happening on any election they want. I personally dont trust any of the voting machines and glad my state votes mostly by mail.
I drive mine to drop box and by the lines so do many others.

I honestly believe that the country is so divided that we are better off breaking up into two seperate countries and going out seperate ways. Until that happens, true election integrity won't. I just don't trust people that have a republican state of mind.

(5,210 posts)that's a LOT harder and more labor intensive than a few keystrokes. Even a few thousand or hundreds of thousands of key strokes.

(31,261 posts)Tampered only have to put people at a few dropboxes in key districts in key states to change results. Yes, it's harder than keystrokes, but it is infinitely possible by some organization that is determined.

(36,231 posts)If your county is like mine, the paper ballots are only hand counted if the vote is close, or there is some kind of issue. It's better than not having a paper trail at all but we need to go back to hand counting paper ballots.

(79 posts)First post -- long time lurker. The state of the world prompted me to speak out.
The math clearly shows that what happened on Nov 8th, 2016 was completely anomalous. Why are we expected to believe that every pollster, who had predicted many, mnay past election results with impeccable precision, was wrong? That alone told me something was very wrong that night.
When Mueller finally does play his cards, I think the evidence will be overwhelmingly clear to everyone, and it's going to cause some serious back-peddling in the GOP as they try to deny they ever supported this disaster (which they won't be able to get out of). Problem is that when time comes for removal, be it impeachment or after the 2020 election, 45 will refuse to leave. Then things will get bad.

(6,535 posts)Considering how blatantly clear it was (to me at least) at the end of the election cycle that something truly nefarious had happened, I couldn't believe that the outgoing administration wouldn't do more than they did to fight back, or at least make it clear to the American people that the electoral process had been subverted...my theory at the time was that whatever had happened was actually so much worse than anything that had been made public, that they were afraid that public knowledge of the essentially stolen election would cause the country to blow up entirely and descend into chaos.
So they had to hope that the structure of our republic was sturdy enough to survive, and hope that the balance of power between the three branches of the government would prevent major damage...after all, the nation survived the 2nd Bush presidency, so everyone decided to go on as if things were just fine, and this was a normal transition to a new administration, not the handing over of the executive branch to a bunch of criminals.
In other words, I suspect that the worst parts of the truth were suppressed in order to prevent major riots.
I think this is a common approach to information that would be so upsetting to the public that it would cause a panic, and/or cause people to lose faith in our society. Sort of like in that movie "Deep Impact", where the fictitious president kept the news of an impending asteroid collision with the Earth under wraps for as long as possible, exactly for the reasons you state--fear of massive de-stabilization, descent into chaos, riots, etc.
Mostly they just want people to keep going to work, buying stuff, enriching the already rich oligarchs, etc. If people knew the truth, all of that might be threatened.

(646 posts)because of "fear of massive de-stabilization on a worldwide scale". We all know the truth of what happened. We've known the truth of past crimes committed by past Presidents. There are truths the institutions of our country will not acknowledge, for if society falls they fall. It is for the protection of our way of life that we end up allowing attacks on our way of life by the highest offices in our land go unchallenged.
