Trump: The Worst of Both Worlds

How can an American President resemble Adolf Hitler and Neville Chamberlin at the same time? Now, before I get flamed for a "Hitler" comparison, I am in no way minimizing the historical horror of the Holocaust. But, two points here, Hitler didn't have gas chambers in his first 16 months in elective office. That atrocity came later. He did have concentration camps and he did scape goat religions and nationalities in his first 16 months in office. Also, the Hitler reference is always hyperbole from me as an extreme example of elected leaders who turn into authoritarians. So, please allow me license to make that comparison for the sake of the argument I'm making.
Trump resembles Hitler (and all demagogic elected leaders) on the domestic front. As I said, the scapegoating, the fear mongering, the autocratic rule and the attraction to other dictators. Yet, he doesn't have expansionist, military goals. That's where Trump resembles Chamberlin. Trump just about surrendered to North Korea. The United States received no concession from the Dictator there, and gave away the store. Same with Putin and Russia. We're about to see Trump normalize the dictator in Syria and allow an annexation of a sovereign territory (Crimea) by another dictator. "Peace in our time". And, we can fully expect, even worse than Chamberlin, a personal alliance between Trump and Putin that puts our own democracy at risk, resembling the original "America First" movement headed up Charles Lindbergh.
So, that's the way I see it, the worst of both worlds: An Autocratic, racist leader at home and a gullible, complicit appeaser of dictators on the world stage.
God help us all.
