Imagine the bombshell it would be if we found out Trump sent a secret message to the Russian government asking them to hack Clinton on July 27th & they did the same day. He did exactly that publicly. Our cognitive bias is silly, thinking covert messages are worse than public ones

(6,065 posts)The Republican Party and their base know that demographics has made it impossible for the R's to survive fair elections. The base is cool with this but not because of cognitive bias. They're cool with it because they're fully onboard with the decision to commit treason to hold onto power. Anything to keep the {racial epithets} from taking over.

(15,181 posts)Because it's how they can hold onto power in a supposedly democratic system.
I don't think the {racial epithets} is all that restrictive. It also includes liberals, educated people, women, anyone not exactly like "them".
Try telling a RW evangelical voter that their pResident goes against anything/everything in their religion and they'll say that's ok - the ends justify the means.

(6,137 posts)it is not looked upon as crime immidiately. We are conditioned to believe that perpetrators always try to cover up their crimes. Trump went opposite and it was swallowed as free speech. The only efficient way for trump to communicate with putin directly is in the open, twitter, rallies, etc. Red wave is coming was without a doubt a signal to putin to go ahead with the planned hacking of 2018 elections that theyve been planning since 2016. Imagine a scenario when we lose more senators in november and do not become house majority. And knowing that is not much being done to stop it, this is the most likely scenario as of today. I dont need to tell that there wont be a real 2020 election. What we do know is that there is no way out for trumputin; they will stop absolutely at nothing including majpr war, terrtist attacks and all way to the launch of nucleat weapons. Hindsight or not but Obama had seriously underestimated the threat. I think he had a good chance of succesfully intervening during rep primaries when lots of gops would love to have taken trump down. He waited too long until the general election and by then it was a sophies choice politically. He must have all the information gathered by CIA, NSA, FBI, etc. over the years to know what is happening. Instead he said early in trumps presidency - foreign policy is each presidents prerogative. Trumps prerogative turned out to be treason.

(14,164 posts)And that he is stupid, but not stupid enough to not pretend he was just joking. Say it in an off-the-cuff manner to cover the fact that he knew full well what was going on with Russia and the DNC.
That he was so full of hubris that he couldn't help himself by 'asking' for it to be done. Like he was ordering Russia around, instead of the reality that it was Russia that was doing it of their own volition in order to have him as their puppet.

(3,400 posts)Trump asked Russia to find the "30,000 Emails" referring to the deleted messages from her private server. These ARE NOT the emails that were hacked from the DNC.
I think the connection between the public pronouncement and the actual hack is "weak tea". Trying to use this as proof will lead us down a dead end. Trump did say "I love Wikileaks", but it still make a weak legal argument.
I believe that the SP will find ample evidence of conspiracy and fraud. This particular thread will taint the credibility of those seeking the truth.

(21,946 posts)They had already hacked the DNC and the triple C ones. I disagree with you. This thread IS credible.

(79 posts)... and shortly thereafter something happens to your family, one usually draws the conclusion these two events are explicitly correlated. It's not a coincidence that someone decided to help out the mob boss on the spur of the moment, out of the kindness of their hearts (or the hatred for your family).
Not sure why the Russia shout-out gets a pass (then again, maybe it isn't anymore).

(37,648 posts)And I remember being shocked and saying out loud to myself "That sounds like an instruction. That does not sound like campaign rhetoric." I mean, who SAYS that?
He has done this sort of thing several times. It gives him cover for later saying, "I was just joking!"
Telling Russia to find & release the 30,000 "missing emails."
Being President for life sounds good. Oh, I'm just kidding. But we'll see. Who knows.
His people are all there, smiling. I want my people to be like that. (speaking of Kim Jong Un, N Korea)

(5,268 posts)He was openly signaling loud and clear his willingness to lift sanctions and accept Russian takeover of Crimea and inviting Russia to hurt Hillary Clinton to help him get in WH where he could help Russia achieve their goals
