The Queen's Handbag Signals

It has long been known that the Queen uses her handbag to signal her staff regarding her wishes.

https://www.housebeautiful.com/lifestyle/news/a8152/inside-queen-elizabeths-purse/

If she switches her bag from one arm to the other, watch out.

"It would be very worrying if you were talking to the Queen and saw the handbag move from one hand to the other," royal historian Hugo Vickers told PEOPLE. You see, this is a signal the Queen uses to indicate to her staff that she's ready to wrap up her current conversation.

It's the system in place there, something was done that people like. Doesn't mean there's a ton of "worship" of monarchies.

I'm not in favor of them but I can appreciate when QE does something like she did.

Many countries have a both a head of state and a head of government. Some countries have both a president and a prime minister. Others have both an elected head of government and also a reigning royal who serves as head of state.

Of course, the US President is both head of state and government.

I think it is good to have the ceremonial and governmental functions and duties split between two individuals.

but now I'm not so sure. In a modern social democracy, the good ones don't wield political power, but do provide a moral center outside of politics. In the U.S. we used to depend on churches to do that, but they obviously can't be trusted anymore. It's good to have a national level force outside of the partisan scrabble (sometimes).
