Top Intel Democrat uses Eric Trump’s words to accuse family of buying Turnberry golf course with Russian cash

The Democrat serving as the ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence linked President Donald Trump’s weekend golf vacation at his troubled Trump Turnberry resort with the commander-in-chief’s refusal to cancel Monday’s Helsinki summit with Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is a former federal prosecutor who gained prominence prosecuting former FBI Agent Richard Miller of passing secret documents to the Soviet Union in exchange for gold and cash.

Schiff is now once again following the money, and zeroing in on comments by Eric Trump, the president’s middle son who is helping manage the Trump organization.

The guy is nothing if not complex. He's got himself and his fingers in so much shit, ALL of it shady. Beautiful place, but, we shouldn't be funding his stays at his own properties. PERIOD. Pres Obama golfed at the military base specifically to be close to people, and reduce the cost. I see no attempts to do the same here.

The cost of maintaining NATO is because of the threat from USSR Soviet Russia to our Allies in Western Europe. Ultimately it's a threat to us too because if they went down (in the Cold War) then we knew we were next.

We stood with our Allies for 60+ years. Cheeto (or Cheeto & Putin together) cannot destroy this.

...that may have come from a private source in Russia. It remains to be seen, and it's not connected to the NATO funding.

Whatever money laundering that DeutscheBank is a party to, could be outside of our jurisdiction. By that I mean, it breaks US laws but maybe not international financing laws. Our only recourse would be to kick DeutscheBank out of the US, and that would be a very extreme move.

Adding to a public discussion about the Scottish golf course’s troubled finances, Rep. Schiff connected the dots

“Before meeting Putin, the President will play golf at his course in Scotland, which he paid for with millions in cash. Where did the cash come from?” Rep. Schiff asked.

“His son, Eric, has said they get all the money they need from Russia,” Schiff noted.

During a radio interview with golf writer James Dodson, Eric Trump reportedly bragged about Russian financing of Trump’s golf course acquisitions.
