(6,065 posts)...this is a move to switch the votes of ACLU members who support Trump? All, what, three of them?

(37,648 posts)NRA members are likely to vote Repub, anyway, so what's the point? The point may be enthusiasm. Maybe urgency and importance. An org. that focuses on one thing that points out to voters dangers on the horizon, and who supports the NRA's view of things to protect gun rights?
It seems to make a difference. It's worth a try. Couldn't hurt!

(19,558 posts)Not every person who is a member of the ACLU feel as obligated to vote as most here. This is a move to reach out to their membership and attach candidates to actual civil rights and civil liberties votes, and make them own it, one way or the other.
If this works, they'll be publicly exposing candidates who disregard our civil rights and showcasing the ones who don't. You'd be surprised how many people out there have no clue as to how their representatives actually vote. This could help remedy that in this one respect.

(19,558 posts)I recognize you as the sole person who replied to my post on this topic early this afternoon. Please, let me thank you for caring about mobilizing our voters.

(41,103 posts)with a group or organization, nothing wrong with that. It's motivation, pride too. I don't get suspicion or any blunt criticism.
Equally valuable is how you think they might look further into candidate's issues and record, and convey it.
Again, thank you herding cats!!

(144,919 posts)I was at a meeting several months ago when the ACLU discussed pushing for a non-partisan redistricting commission for Texas. This is a great goal but will require voting a number of republicans out of office
