Royal scoop: Prince William and Prince Charles refused to meet Donald Trump, writes the Times. Their absence "was a snub," a courtier said. "They simply refused to attend. It's a very, very unusual thing for the Queen to be there on her own."

(2,768 posts)It came off like a cheap photo op rather than state visit. She didn't want him there and it showed.

(58,785 posts)apparently "made it clear they did not want to meet him," which would be different from refusing, and she obviously did not require their attendance, may have actually chosen their absence. I read the private audience part was a whole 20 minutes.
And we know she was able to avoid being run down by Trump outside without their help. How could anyone see him walking obliviously in the path of a 92-year-old woman half his size, instead of courteously attending her (forget that she's a queen), and doubt he's missing some important parts?

(17,982 posts)Been over 20 minutes because Trump did not show up until 10 after. The car was seen driving away before 6, I think, there time.

(58,785 posts)these constant public evidences that he has some things fundamentally wrong with him. He has enormous power but does not genuinely represent anything but himself.

(17,982 posts)Ever recorded! They drove away in less than an hour.
I bet these things eat Trump alive.
I am still trying to figure out how she got behind him, then had to walk around.

(28,941 posts)She was pointing to the Coldstream Guards; no doubt explaining they're oldest continuing regiment in the army. As Clinton, Merkel and May have found out, Moron is a boar. He can not stand any woman knowing more than he does (a lot)), trying to tell him anything or just on her worst days flat being a better human being than he could ever be.
In that septic tank that subs for his brain, women are good for only one thing and old women, nothing. Moron had to insult her. He couldn't physically or verbally do so, so he acted like she wasn't there - turned his back, walked in front of her.
Her Maj, being a lady and a tough old broad, thought, "Fine. I tried." She silently finished the reviewing of the troops and gritted her way through the tea. She may have said one, maybe two, words to Moron and directed the conversation toward FLOTUS. Before the tea even began to cool, she moved her ever present purse from one arm to the other. That is her signal to the staff of "Get this creep outta here before I do a violence." A staffer quickly announced the photographer was ready, quick and dirty shoot and the welcome mat flicked away while HM thought, "There better be one humongous gin and tonic on that tea table or somebody is going to be a guest of honor at The Tower."
Oh yes, my apologies to boars.

(1,639 posts)Just this moment, I am amusing myself with this little scenario:
Her Majesty, pausing over the edge of her teacup, kindly notes to Melania, "Such a stylish outfit, my dear." Then, inclining her head ever so slightly in Trump's direction, "I understand that your husband found my late daughter-in-law's style rather-- becoming-- as well." After a nano-second of a brittle, polite smile, "But that was all before your own marriage to the -- gentleman--, so, of course, there is no cause for concern." The smile now is accompanied by a feline gleam to the eye, Say something. I dare you.

(28,941 posts)I'm betting she told the boys to stay away. Wouldn't want one or all of them, especially Harry, to go ballistic on Moron's ass - Britain has enough problems. "I can handle Bone Spurs."
What is the point of being the Queen of England if you can't take the occasional taste of the richest cream?
BTW, read an article a while back that said the Queen has a very special chocolate cake made for her. A piece of it is always on hand when she travels and nobody else gets a slice of her treat.* Looking at her having to deal with him, I can hear her thinking, . . . not enough chocolate cake in the world . . .
* Don't know if this means the chef can never make that particular cake recipe to be served to guests, or if he/she always has to have a cake on hand for the Queem alone to finish off.

(9,753 posts)This scenario would result in capillaries spontaneously breaking in random places all over Melania's body, while Donnie remained utterly oblivious.
Trump is impervious to shame. It's ridicule he can't stand. That's why the Trump Baby was so utterly perfect. (As was the "show your rump to Trump" campaign, which had to be shelved when Trump chickened out about coming to London.)
