Any tvs or monitors airing news stations, at least at one complex, will be locked to Fox News. My husband works for the fed govt and he said there are two tvs in the common area, one tuned to CNN and one to Fox. I told him - I bet that will change soon and both will be tuned to Fox News.
The channels cannot be changed.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but I am unable to change any of the monitors to any other news source at this time.

(14,274 posts)The FOX tv typically had only 2-3 people watching it during the 2016 primaries. Everyone else centered around the CNN tv while they ate their lunch. Due to the unpopularity of FOX News, they eventually changed that set to re-runs of game shows from the 70's on GSN. That tv's viewership then increased to the point that only 2-3 people were left watching CNN.

(2,795 posts)He is discouraged from any activism, they can get in trouble for sending any kind of political commentary/opinion through govt email. So if the employees are expected to remain politically neutral when at work - why is any news program on? Why not have it tuned to entertainment channels in the common area? The Chew or Dr Oz? something benign like that.

(5,491 posts)The memo on the source does not read like its legit. Its too informal, is oddly written in areas, and has grammar mistakes.
I would definitely like to see further proof before believing this.
Edit: The story is also from over a year ago.

(5,007 posts)and they have Fox News on 3 screens. Then they have one that has a random show. Then when I was at a doctor appointment in a large military hospital they had both TVs set to Fox News. It is quite pathetic.

Forget that last one. If things keep going the way they have, you'd have better luck getting a supportive stance from the Spanish Inquisition. And they sent bills for "services rendered" to the families of their torture victims.

At FDA, TVs now turned to Fox News and can't be switched
Last Updated May 8, 2017 12:27 PM EDT
Updated with FDA comment.
<...>
An FDA spokesperson got back to CBS News after our deadline, telling us, "There was no directive or memorandum from the Administration that went out to employees about broadcast news channels displaying on monitors in common areas throughout the FDA's White Oak campus."
The spokesperson explained that a variety of news stations run on the monitors in the common areas on campus, including CNN, MSNBC and FOX News, and that the email referenced had been sent by a customer service representative from the FDA's Office of Facilities in response to a group of employees.

As a note, White Oak, which used to be an old base (Naval ordinance lab) that had been closed and repurposed, is a huge campus with a couple dozen buildings.
