Donald Trump may be beholden to Vladimir Putin because he helped him win his election against Hillary Clinton? And now we know that Putin used his military intelligence to do the job.
But Trump's assumption may be a long way off track? Putin did not help Trump because he wants to be his "friend". He helped Trump because he wanted to divide America and create havoc within our institutions.
If the latter is the case, in the next election, Putin may target the Republicans for defeat. That would be the most logical next step in the division of America and its people.
But, if there is indeed a "blue wave", the Republicans, in their natural paranoia, will discover that Russia had a role in their agonizing defeat. It is only then that they will get religion and recognize that we need to protect our electoral system from external attacks. At the moment, we are not prepared for the next election.
Another possibility is that the Democrats do not win back the House or Senate and the Russians further divide our nation along partisan political lines. If this were to happen, our country would be terribly alienated.
