wish you could be a fly on the wall and watch them work? While we never hear or see him or his team, it's obvious as hell that they are working their asses off. There is such a strong undercurrent that it is palpable if you just watch.
I'm not surprised at the Russian indictments. I think they are necessary to lay the groundwork for the real indictments that I feel positive are coming. When? Only Mueller and his team know. But, rest assured, they are coming down the pipe and again, I won't be surprised. Giddy, yes, though.
What would really be nice is if they could prove PA, WI, and MI were hacked and flipped. Now THAT would make me do cartwheels (I can dream). 😀

(17,862 posts)I would like to get an honest assessment by Mueller of Comey. He is in an unique position to judge him.
On the hacking I only think you need to prove one state (one with statewide optical ballots) that can be reviewed. I suspect those ballots are gone by now.

(4,305 posts)We are required to keep them x (I think she said 5) amount of years including the ballots that were not used. If ballots are gone that soon then they were intentionally gone. Every state is different but I cannot imagine trashing them that quickly. I have gotten to the point that I trust NO politician with an R. Starting from our local clerk of court to the president and every single republican politician in between. None. Notta.

(107 posts)How big Mueller's entire team must be. We know about the individuals he picked to head up each area, but how many people would staff each one of these groups? When I think about the size and scope of this investigation I can't imagine how many people you'd need to do all this. It's also amazing how airtight it is, considering how many people must be involved.
I also wonder if they work weekends, in shifts around the clock, do they take holidays off? I too would love to be a fly on the wall to see how all of this works.

(27,813 posts)... the work of Mueller et al is going to make a hell of a movie. It will be the "All the President's Men" of this generation.

(15,751 posts)The apparent scope of the Mueller investigation is so vast - historic.
Beyond 'fly on the wall', somewhere there is a 'big picture plan' with probability projections. Would settle for an eavesdrop on Mueller latenight confabs.

(14,164 posts)That Mueller has even granted a documentary maker to shoot video of them working etc...obviously not filming anything secret or compromising. And with a promise not to release it until he has finished his work.
If only for the reason to show how professional and credible it would have been when the obvious cries of 'fake investigation' come out afterwards. A good director that can use actual footage plus graphic animation and such to construct the trail of evidence.

(12,894 posts)a reason to be there or to even use a phone to take a picture. He can't afford any slipups. But, it would be cool to see.

(14,164 posts)But I think it might actually be an important thing to do in order to help give the investigation legitimacy in the publc's eye.
Because it will be lambasted by Republicans as a 'witch hunt' and 'show trial' and that what was going on behind closed doors was them conspiring every day to distort and invent evidence and that they were totally biased. So I'd like to see a show done in the "48 Hours" mold. Make it all about fitting the pieces together with hard work and following the rule of law.

(12,894 posts)Hell, I don't even think a mini-series would cover it. But, I hope whoever writes the script and directs is top notch. And I hope it's in my lifetime!😜

Damn right I would love to be a fly on the wall and watch them work.

(4,388 posts)All Mueller has to do in the next set of indictments is name the "person who was in regular contact with senior members of the presidential campaign of Donald J. Trump".
I've been saying for a year that the only good thing about Trump being president is being given the opportunity to watch how *serious* justice department and national security officers go about their business.
Who would have ever heard of Sally Yates or Robert Mueller if it weren't for this investigation?
Not entirely a fair trade-off but still...

(115 posts)started as the do-it-all girl in a 2 man young firm and worked my way up to being a paralegal before they ever thought of certification. Now, I work for federal attorneys at a huge nuclear waste clean up site. So Ive had a small glimpse at how lawyers, including and especially DOJ lawyers, think and work. My friend and I discussed this too. Everyone who works on a case like this does it with their whole heart and soul. It sounds corny but there is almost a reverence for the rule of law and getting things right. Working for Mueller, for me, would be like working for God. I have the utmost respect for their knowledge, integrity and loyalty to country. This is what keeps my hope afloat.

(15,408 posts)I've been an attorney for 42 years, nearly 30 of which I spent working for state government. Attorneys get a bad rap and a small number in the private sector deserve it. It is my experience that attorneys (and support staff) who work in the public sector consider it an honor. My boss was not the governor nor the head of my agency it was the citizens who I served and who paid my paycheck. What they would ask of me is that I work hard, be honest and be fair. Best boss I ever had! And I tried to live up to that. If you were a fly on the wall you would find a group of people who are dedicated to working hard, being honest and being fair.

(6,254 posts)what is happening and it should terrify Trump and Republicans. Just think about all the people involved from secretarial staff, court staff and grand jury members and not a single leak. This means they know they have a solemn duty to find the truth and there is no messing around or political gamesmanship happening. I think Mueller will come through for us as it must disgust him witnessing the destruction of our democracy and the delegitimization of our institutions. The rule of law is under attack and Mueller will respond accordingly.

(37,648 posts)so I sometimes imagine what it must be like in the investigation offices. I would think they are all working in the same office complex, but I don't know that for sure.
I sort of have an idea of what is going on. Sort of. And how serious it is around there. And how everyone, including staff, is working his/her as* off...short deadlines, "no excuses," weekends, some all nighters. Memos to each other, meetings & conferences. Lots of staff. Technical wizards, paralegals, database specialists, assistants & secretaries...all highly qualified, well paid, top notch. Unreasonable deadlines, but no excuse is accepted for missing one.
The stakes are high. They're all aware of what's on the line, and their critical part in getting at the truth and not screwing up. The stress and pressure must be immense for all of them. But they know it will end some day, their job having been done. And then they will rest. Until the congressional hearings start. To them, it's not a race. It's a marathon. A steady pace is necessary to go the distance. They are also not working from a preconceived determination. They are going where the evidence takes them.
They are aware of their place in history, too. What they do, how they do it, and their ethics and reputations have to be stellar. They cannot be the ones who are responsible for one of the criminals walking away.
I imagine. But yeah...I would love to be a fly on the wall and watch them for one day.
I hope Mueller writes a book after all this is said and done. I would love to read the inside story. No matter what happens.
