There have got to be better topics of debate than whether @elonmusk is committed to climate action. He has dedicated his career to the mission of replacing fossil fuels with clean energy & has strongly backed the Sierra Club's advocacy work. We are proud to have his support.

Setting all else aside, @elonmusk has spent his career focused on tackling the climate crisis & advancing clean energy. We know that from his work with Tesla & Solar City. And, we know that from his generous $6m in financial support for our climate advocacy @sierraclub (1/2)

We're proud of Elon's support of our work. -- and, we will continue vigorously fighting the climate deniers in the GOP. But Elon's innovation and leadership on climate cannot be denied.
The ACLU pipes up too.

(149,588 posts)He clearly states that when you give to both political parties, this giving allows you to have your voice heard. That's it.
He does not support R policies and that much is clear.
He has given much more money to the Democrats because this is what he believes in. But he also wants the R's to listen to him, and giving them a pittance allows him a seat at the table.
Read the article.

(15,315 posts)when those he's paying to talk to are actually elected because of that support. He's a billionaire. It will never affect him. I can't believe I'm seeing that argument here on DU, of all places.

(6,390 posts)...so I'll say this;
Virtually all corporations, wealthy individuals, etc. donate to both parties. They have to. If they don't, they get crapped on when legislation is enacted. If they donate to only one party, they are hosed big time.
Yeah, it sucks. But that's how corrupt the system is currently. Oh and say thank you to the Supreme Court for making it even more corrupt...hell, even enabling Russia to interfere in the last election.
Purity tests belong to the Republicans....and we all know how well they will fare.
