There has to be a better word

... than "meddling".

"Meddling" sounds so terribly lame ...yet that's what all the journalists keep calling the nefarious Russian cyberattack on our election! What's a better word than " meddling"?

I agree completely. The term "meddling" makes me crazy every time I hear it!

maybe because meddling is a pathetic (yet effective) way to influence a series of events to produce a desired outcome. Here are some synonyms: interfere, hinder, impede, impose, infringe, intrude, tamper.
