I was getting ready to post a scathing comment about the corporate medias use of the word interference in stories about the 2016 election; as if it was somehow equivalent to losing a DirecTV signal during a thunderstorm.
OK, DNI Coats is mincing words to cover his ass. A real public servant would be willing to risk his pension, other payroll benefits, and any resumè/CV/LinkedIn repercussions for what We The People need to hear and see now. Especially as we count down the days until the midterm elections.
Mr. Coats, you're in for a penny, in for a pound. We dont need your tiptoeing via a carefully crafted message. The fate of the republic is at stake here. Heres your opportunity to make a bold stand, be courageous and be remembered favorably. Otherwise, your legacy will be a tiny, insignificant footnote as history records these tumultuous times.
Makes me wonder if the Vietnam-era maxim about military intelligence being an oxymoron has morphed to include the upper echelon of the current federal bureaucracy.

(4,192 posts)Think of the word "meddling" as a republican comfort word. It keeps them from actually revealing how complicit they all are with the Russian hacking of our elections that they have so generously benefitted from.
This is not "meddling". But the republicans sure are acting childish about it. Or maybe "childish" isn't the right word. How about "guilty"!
