How we have found ourselves today at the crossroads of treason being committed by the president and the GOP took root in the decision to codify dark money from undisclosed entities. This was the nexus of the budding movement to move the country to fascism, racism and a shift of wealth to oligarchic rule. Time to rise up and say as Howard Beale once declared 'I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore'.
Make November a blue tidal wave to sweep away the corruption of the GOP congress and the Orange Menace, Pence etc.

(1,155 posts)so much so that it allowed the opening for Bin Laden to commit 9-11 on our soil. The Reagan Revolution really opened Pandora's Box upon the nation. Today's treason was all part of the GOP grand plan to eliminate the middle class and to create a corporatocracy. It has led to the decline of the American Empire such that it was. Trump is the final manifestation of this decline and he will only take us deeper into the abyss unless it is brought to a halt.

(1,155 posts)long after this national nightmare is over. Or at least I pray that it does. I probably won't get to see the healing from these wounds in my lifetime but if I do, I will never forget what's happening today.

(7,534 posts)Donald Trump is a classic illustration that becoming rich has nothing to do with ability. The rich should have no more say in the political arena than the poor man. Corporations have a right to exist only within the guarantee that they remain good citizens of the nation. When they break that compact and become predators then they forgo any right to exist. A poor man uses a gun to rob...corporations use lawyers and lobbyists to rob.

(14,489 posts)Agree 100% with your contention regarding election funding and I'm a fundamentalist - each voter should be limited to a small amount (say, $10 or $20) per candidate per election with zero allowance for PACs or any other backdoor support. And, no TV ads. Put campaigns back on the street and allow fliers send by mail only.
It's bad enough that Republicans have their own cable news network, hundreds of right-wing talk radio shows and dozens of billionaire-funded think tanks, but allowing massive corporate election funding is flat wrong.
