But I do think very likely several GoP senators took a whole lot of money from Putin in one way or another. And most of them took $ from the NRA, and now it's clear they were just funneling Putin cash.

Why would these repubs change parties and give control to Schumer? So he can block Trump from nominating judges? These repubs may criticize Trump's sucking up to Putin, but they like the judges he nominates They're not going to interfere with that.

I suppose it could allow Schumer to block consideration of Kavanaugh, but if that's all it would do, why would Corker or Flake switch?

His biggest concern is the distraction from the Senate's priority:

RAMMING AS MANY FEDERALIST JUDGES AS POSSIBLE THROUGH CONFIRMATIONS

If enough Reps take a stand against treason and resign from the party supporting it, for now, that would allow Dems to take back control and initiative impeachment proceedings.

Reps who are not comfortable with, say, a pro-choice stance or other issues wouldn't have to join the Dem party, just walk away from the Republican party.

I have seen this done at the local level, where several local Reps left the party at various times in protest over things. One Rep later decided to return to the party and was welcomed back and still got elected to higher office.

They can tell their followers they still have conservative principles, but must take a stand against treason.

That would be a slightly more realistic expectation than expecting them to join a party where they disagree with many things.

Picture it in reverse. if A Dem president turned out to be a traitor and you were in Congress, could you see yourself becoming a republican? No, but maybe resigning from your party in protest and voting your conscience instead of party line, if your party was backing treason, corruption and evil.

They would hold all the power, they could name the next Majority leader and decide every bill.
