To resign he'd have to care and he only cares about himself - and Trump's ego would balk at the idea.

If the "members of Congress" he is meeting with later today threaten him with impeachment or resignation, then that would be another story. Still, his ego...

I don't think the "members of Congress" he plans to meet with will be offering up such a choice.

But if what he has done is treason, then he's playing for the highest stakes possible. As in, he could be executed.

So his way round that would be to get a pardon from the next President. If he resigns then that's Pence. But if he waits until he's voted out... well would President Warren pardon him?

But it would take an overwhelming outcry by the American people I suspect. I guess we’d better get started.

Five things need to occur

1) 25% decline in stock indexes with widespread condemnation of his trade war

2) GOP donor flash stops donating

3) Confirmation of massive loss of seats in House

4) His being called to testify before a grand jury

5) Pence agrees to pardon

He would rather leave before the elections and cast blame elsewhere than stay, be blamed and prosecuted.

Trump, as his ex wives will tell you is, at heart a quitter.

Just needs the right precondition

That's the way the world works. Each outrage is followed by an even more outrageous act, and when you can't believe that one there's another even more outrageous. Any one of these acts would sink another man's presidency, but Trump seems invincible. He's the ultimate con man. He's destroyed nearly a half dozen businesses, now he's going to destroy the U.S. and the EU.

Putin said he wanted Trump to win. He said he helped him win. Trump said he believed Putin over his own intelligence agencies. Tomorrow the House should be voting on Articles of Impeachment. They won't, but they should.

My hero today was the last reporter, who asked Putin if Russia had something on Trump or his family that would cause him to act the way he does. As he always does, Putin said a lot of words but didn't answer the question.

The bills have come due and he paid his creditor in Helsinki. My understanding what we saw in the news conference may not have been the script he was given. This is all a big gamble and Trump knows he can lose. Anything is possible.

and the GOP Congress will ensure nothing becomes of the investigation. It's wishful thinking that something does.

The ONLY recourse starts this November.

I honestly think we would be better off downplaying all the Russia stuff as it gives a false sense of security.
