By Catherine Treyz, CNN Updated 1:17 PM ET, Tue July 17, 2018
"And very importantly, probably most importantly, our Republican colleagues need to join us in demanding testimony from the President's national security team that was in Helsinki -- and we need to do that immediately," the New York Democrat said from the Senate floor Tuesday.
Schumer said the American people need more information on anything Trump promised Russian President Vladimir Putin, following a press conference Monday where Trump appeared to downplay the US intelligence community's assessment that Russia interfered with the last US presidential election and that Trump said Putin was "extremely strong and powerful" in his denial of responsibility.

(442 posts)The quotation marks in your post are extraneous.

(146,288 posts)Some people use quotation marks for emphasis in places like this. Others try other things. It doesn't matter. The word gets emphasized. This forum has formatting options, but they're not easy to uses on phones and other mobile devices. The point is to make a point.
The person you replied to emphasized a word. The quotation marks worked just fine.
Now, do you have anything to say about the point that was made?

(442 posts)To agree with the comment. Sheesh... this is a really tough crowd sometimes.

(11,885 posts)Have a plan in place if trump fires Rosenstein because of the 12 russians getting indicted last week. Putin and trump are getting more desperate as it closes in on them both .

(6,228 posts)You want Chuck and Nancy to have a plan if Rosenstein gets fired. Chuck and Nancy are in the minority party. Chuck and Nancy lack the votes and power to get anything done. Until they are the majority party with the votes and power, nothing like we want will get done.

(4,642 posts)but nothing will happen. The fascists don't care, hell, they would sell their own kids to make a buck. They just want that fascist capitalist money, and putin is all about that.

(9,426 posts)gop has done more than once, hold a meeting with just their own party. How many meetings has Nunes held without democratic members of the team? Nunes, the guy who supposedly recused himself after his midnight flits to the WH, delivering copies of the meetings. BTW Did Vlad re-program the miserable Maleria while they were in Helsinki?

(12,864 posts)Huh?
Trump outright rejected the US intelligence community and accepted the word of the Russian tyrant, instead.
Mainstream news really needs to start calling things for what they are, and Trump for what he is.

(9,895 posts)The Republicans are not going to do a goddamn thing to Trump, nothing.
No hearings.
No censure.
Not even a request for clarification...
The GOP is not an honest or functional political party. They stole the SCOTUS seat from Obama and are looking to mangle the court entirely for the next 30 years already as a result. They are neck deep in NRA money...which coincidentally has a Russian money problem too...so there is no incentive for them to turn on themselves.
The ONLY way this can be stopped is with an enormous rebuke in November...a flip of both houses in record fashion and a natural-causes demise of Trump himself. That's really it...long odds against us as a nation surviving this horror show.

(35,437 posts)Not the DC media. Not your "esteemed colleagues". The people. You have to go on EVERY news show and DEMAND congressional hearings. You have to pressure the media to pressure McConnell et al to have open, public hearings into Trump's ties with Russia.
Once again, Schumer shows that he's not suited for the current political climate.
