(7,402 posts)Right before that he said Putin made an "extremely strong and powerful" denial of Russian meddling. For him to have meant "wouldn't" would have completely contradicted his earlier statement that still stands. His statement makes no sense with "wouldn't" in place.

You may convince the 35% of the American populace that's in your know-nothing party base, but you lost the intelligence community, and the senior military, and the hawkish 1/3 of the Reagan coalition of neo-con war hawks with those remarks. Those groups are not going to put the congnitive dissonance in motion for you.
