This compares to a 50 - 28 percent Cuomo lead in a May 2 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll. Today, the governor leads 58 - 20 percent among Democratic women and 60 - 28 percent among men, 53 - 28 percent among white Democrats and 65 - 18 percent among non-white Democrats.

(146,192 posts)Cynthia Nixon never had a prayer of beating Cuomo. The whole concept is silly. Whether you like Cuomo or not, he's a powerful Democratic force in New York. Cynthia Nixon is an actor, best known for her role in "Sex in the City." No amount of buzz from the Our Revolution folks will change that. Waste of time.

(5,272 posts)electorate tend to pull our moderates more to the left, at least in rhetoric, but in Cuomo's case, he finally scuttled the IDC, which before apparently, his hands were tied.

(146,192 posts)What it actually does is show that those who support Nixon have no sense at all. Running an actress with no political history against Cuomo is a chump move. It makes the people behind it look like fools.

(146,192 posts)Cuomo is running. Cuomo will win. End of story.
Meanwhile, there are other races where a progressive might have a chance to unseat a lousy candidate. Why on Earth waste time on a race that can't be won by your candidate?
Cynthia Nixon's candidacy is just a publicity stunt. It will have no good effect on New York politics at all.

(6,137 posts)besides she would be more suitable to gain some experience in NYC politics if she is no longer intereted in acting career. All Ive heard from her is cliche talking points but not her own convictions.

(30,481 posts)Solid point about how fragile things are right now and how incompetence is creeping in further and further into politics. Our side really seems to be staying away from such foolishness.

(30,481 posts)Numerous Democrats have been in office in the same seats you reference. It was no golden egg for them. It wasn't the end of electoral politics for Democrats. It sure as heck isn't a model to follow. Three does not make a trend.
