I'm speechless

I'm 28 years old and I never thought I'd ever see this sorta shit in my life time. Same with many others. This asshole needs to be removed from office ASAP and tried for everything from covering up the fact he knew about Putin's hacking to treason.

This is the must insane shit I've ever seen. This is downright a constitutional crisis

extends far beyond just Trump. I think there is a GOP Coup of sorts at work, possibly in place for some time. Some politicians will do anything for money and power, and to stay in power. It happens in other countries and IMO the US is no exception. The complacency and complicity of some GOP politicians with Trump has been incredible. It is definitely a cult and likely a coup being exposed.

And you have no idea how much I hate Richard Nixon.

This is so much worse, not least because there were some Republicans in those days who had honor, and it was a delegation of Republicans who finally walked up to the White House and told Nixon it was time to go.

Hanging or Guillotine? While both would be huge draws, the methods vary in their pleasure. That huge fat blob dangling from a rope by his many chins is quite appealing, but that fat ugly face and blond mane bouncing into and then out of the capture basket and rolling away has its appeals, too. Tough choice!

The pain and anguish the orange asshole has caused this country should be validated/avenged. I've started a DU poll a couple days ago "If Cheeto should be convicted of a capital crime, how should his sentence be carried out?"

Here's the link: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100210881416

I invite DUers to participate if you haven't already. (Obviously we're just fantasizing here, most of us are morally opposed to capital punishment.) Some very funny comments though.

Although I must say that, having lived in GOP-leaning areas most of my life, it's not entirely surprising.

I've had more than enough conversations with Republicans - some of them quite educated - to know that, if push came to shove, they would gladly support an Argentina-style fascist coup (not kidding).

Or if they felt inundated enough with minorities, which for more than a few Republicans is tantamount to war.

I didn’t duck and cover under all those goddamned school desks to have to deal with this asshole.

encounter with cancer (survived 28 years so far!) and was with a friend when she was murdered by her husband. I’ve got vivid memories of the Kennedy Assassination and then MLK and RFK. Sad, difficult times to live through. I remember crying with my best friend at age 18 after RFK’s murder, plotting our escape to another country because we were so heart broken at what had become of the US. We never left, of course, but I remember how we felt — betrayed and let down that the promise of freedom and justice seemed to be gone or surely going away.

Now it is many years later and I think we are facing the biggest crisis to ever strike our country.
9-11 was sobering and frightening. But this is terrifying. I, along with many fellow DUers have been looking at this since election night 2016, wondering what happened. How did it happen?
Every day seems to bring a new revelation and the past few weeks have been breath taking. Each dramatic event seems to be THE THING that will make Congress act. Do something to save us. But nothing is done. So we wait. We are anxious. We are angry. Many of us are afraid.

I realized today that this is a bigger thing than we could have ever imagined. I think the correct word for what has happened is Coup. Russia (Putin) got tRump on board with his team to get him in office. But it is more complicated than just tRump and his campaign. Many Republican members of the Congress have been brought into the fold. They got Russian money funneled through the NRA and perhaps other organizations so they are beholden to Putin. They are AFRAID of him, as tRump is afraid of him. They know what Putin does to people who disobey him. We have a very big, complicated mess with many threads.

This is the only thing that makes any sense to me. They don’t stop tRump, rebuke him, censure him or even make any attempt to curtail what he is doing. Because to stop him, they get exposed, too. And risk the wrath of Putin. So they are trapped. They are all trapped. I have no idea how any of us will get through this and the country remains whole. But I do know we are all in for a rough ride as things heat up and Mueller concludes his investigation. Will he be allowed to do what he was hired to do? Will we ever find out if my hunch is right? The suspense is terrible and I am worn to a nub, as I know many of my fellow DUers are. Let’s try to stay together, guys. There are trying times ahead of us.

I try to keep a sense of humor and laugh when I can but this experience has me feeling like crying and throwing up my hands in despair. I come here for information but also to know I am not alone. There must be a way to stop this. There has to be. Hugs to everyone as we hang tight.

That's a long time cancer free. That is awesome to hear. But...I thought 2000 was bad, I remember that was the turning point for my mom when 2000 was stolen from Gore. It got was when 2004 was stolen. I got started in 2010 when the tea party bullshit came to light.

We are fighting our enemy here too. Those that will still support him regardless. We have to vote because our freedom does depend on it now. That 100+ million that stayed home need to learn to fucking care now because they will lose their freedoms too.

In all honestly I don't have answers for how it'll stop. Mueller can only do so much, we don't have 67 senators to convict him. So...I don't know anymore. Unless total citizen revolt happens.

I did not get to vote in 2000 because my sister died just before the election so I was out of town and it was too late to vote absentee.

In 2004, I got involved locally, went to several rallies, met Elizabeth Edwards and saw John Edwards on election eve. Was convinced the Dems were going to win. Then they didn’t. I cried like a baby and was convinced it was stolen. Vowed never to get involved again. It hurt too much to lose.

Then Obama came along. So I was all in again and literally cheered and drank champagne when he won.

So there have been high and lows. But this mess we are in right now is the lowest for me, it feels like it is all slipping away and I don’t Know what to expect. So it is scary.

Maybe full revolt by the people is what it will take. Not sure the people in this country are ready for that. But it may be the antidote to this poison cast upon us. Just have to sit tight and see what happens next. No boring news days any more. 😳

The right does not care about rules when they are in power & now they hold the federal government & most of the state governments, too. Nothing has been done about our electoral process. I can't believe people aren't demanding paper ballots counted by fellow citizens, not tabulators. If the dems don't gain control of at least on chamber in November, it's over. The damage done in 1.5 years has already been staggering. Imagine 2.5 years more of this. 2020 won't even matter.

Carry voter registration forms with you. Get them from county clerk's office, DMV in some states and you can download the form but must hand it in. You can register random strangers in coffee shops, grocery stores, dr's offices; where ever you are there is someone who needs to register.

You can get really into it and help them fill it out and turn it in for them just to make sure it happens.

Edit to add: if they tell me they're republiconned, I tell them to mail it.

It all depends on what counts and what matters. Well, Trump is very bad in terms of his actions as President of the United States in terms of "politics and relations with Russia. bad, YES... It looks like he is selling out..
________________________________________________________________________________________
But the worst I have seen is President Bush Jr. going to war over a lie, "weapons of mass destruction" It was a lie, one that killed over 5000 U.S. Troops, injured thousands of troops permanently, and killed tens of thousands of Iraqi people with bombs, etc...

Yes, Bush Jr. was worse. The cost of that is still being paid for, financially. The deaths and more deaths...well, that can never be paid...

Going to war, over a fucking lie, is more insane shit, than this. AND..as bad as this seems, it ain't nothing compared to ...WAR

You may not believe the above, but talk to someone who fought in a war, and watched friends die or lose body parts. I wonder what Senator Tammy Duckworth from Illinois would say about this being the "worst thing she has ever seen." What do you think?

It's frustrating to watch the daily compososition of Fascist America the history book. Could someone stop the obvious treason of the GOP or can we speed up our allegiance to Putin already. Everything has gone as awfully as I've expected thus far. And it's all absurd.
