In many ways the war we are fighting now is like our civil war.
We fought the civil war over power and money. It is the same today.
The rich southern plantation owners, politicians owned most of the slaves. Cotton and slaves allowed them to live like kings. They did not want to give it up.
Through propaganda they convinced the people of the South to turn their backs on their country and democracy, they persuaded them to go to war. Most people in the South were dirt poor, did not own slaves. They did not understand who their true enemy was, The rich, the southern politicians. The very people who were spreading the propaganda.
Like the people of the South, when the people following Trump realize their mistake it will be too late. The republican politicians of today, in their quest for power and money decided to turn their backs on our democracy, our country. Through propaganda they persuaded their followers to do the same.
No shots have been fired in the war we are fighting today. That does mean the damage to our country will be any less severe when this war is decided.
