If you do, note in your post that it is a fake or satire. It's not a good thing for DU to be spreading fakes like that, especially if they use the logos and designs of a legitimate publication. It makes the site look bad, and at the same time makes other DU posts subject to being questioned. Satire is fine, but either needs to be obvious or be flagged as such.
So, bottom line: If you didn't find the cover on the publication's website, check to be sure it's not a fake.
Thanks!
Edit to add: I sometimes post satirical matter here on DU. When I do, it is never disguised as being from any real publication. I identify it as satire with an smilie, and include wide-open clues to its satirical nature. It's not the same thing as posting a fake cover from a nationally-known publication. Not in any way.

(9,998 posts)I did not vote to hide it. However, I did not check to see if it was a legitimate cover or satire, but I believe the suggested violation was the "do not spread right wing talking points" one? (Though I could be mistaken).
Does DU have a violation for satire/fake news?
Occasionally I will comment on something posted that I know to be false, but I have never reported it.
While I enjoy satire from sources like the New Yorker and the Onion, I find it is often frustrating when DU members give it a try themselves. Just my opinion though, and I understand this is a relatively open virtual message board so there will be varying opinions on the matter.
