How did our country slip this far?

I'm talking about crimes committed by Trump and his cronies that have been going on for decades.

I'm talking about the NRA funneling millions to Trump.

What wasn't any of this stopped by law enforcement?

Decades of blatant propaganda has had its effect.
Unless it can be curtailed the country will continue to disintegrate.

corruption is often, arguably inevitably, something that happens in bureaucracies and organizations of power.

but democrats are ashamed of whatever corruption it comes across and we quickly turn on our own to get rid of it. we recognize that it's wrong.

republicans not only have no shame about corruption, but in fact it's their true governing philosophy. they don't believe in tax cuts for the rich because of any economic theory or theory of justice. they believe in it because the people they're giving the tax cuts to are the people who contributed heavily to their campaigns. it may be technically legal, but it's corrupt as hell.

republicans don't try to hide it, they dress it up and call it a philosophy. but it's nothing but corruption.

how can anyone really justify fewer irs agents and fewer audits when people like donnie are surely evading taxes? again, tax evaders pay big bucks for republicans to gain power and in return, republicans loosen regulations and enforcement of regulations so that their rich donors can profit in return. again, it's totally corrupt, but they call it a philosophy.

I've said this before on this board (which is a bit of a silly statement, as I can offer no proof) but conservative political ideology, at least in THIS country, can not win unless they cheat. It's that simple.

I am convinced that if presented with rational, reasoned arguments, even the most die hard evangelical, 6,000 year old Earth believing Christian would agree that for the most part, they (at least TEND TO) align more with progressive ideology than they do conservative.

For instance;

Freedom of Religion; Progressives tend to be more understanding regarding religion. They are more willing to tolerate various denominations. I would trust a Democrat to protect my 1st amendment rights regarding religion and my religious perspective, or lack thereof, more than I would a Republican.

Freedom of speech; I trust a progressive would NOT WANT TO LOCK ME UP OR SUGGEST I BE BEATEN UP merely for speaking a contrary opinion, more than I would a conservative these days.

Freedom of the Press; I would trust a Democrat to ensure that even the most distasteful and horrible (as judged by a hypothetical rational standard) speech would not be suppressed as opposed to a Republican. I trust that a Democrat would defend the fact seeking media more than a Republican would these days.

All the Rest;

I would trust progressive political ideology to protect me from the government and defend the rest of the rights enumerated in the remaining Bill of Rights more than I would a conservative.

The American people that cling to conservative political and economic ideology have been duped, in my opinion. They refuse to recognize how complex our society has become and simply will not let go of the idea that life "back then" was somehow so much better.

Sure...,better for rich, white people perhaps.

Here is the main conservative ideology that refuses (as far as I see it) to have evolved;

"A rising tide lifts all boats"

Sure, of course it does. .....except....

When some of the boats, based merely on how they are painted or where they were built, or whether or not they have the right engine or rudder or sails or navigation equipment are tied so tightly by the bow to permanent moorings, such that when the tide comes in,............

they get pulled under.

And forgotten.

And blamed for their own sinking.

THIS is the difference.

My political perspective wants to ensure and INSISTS that ALL humanity has a long enough mooring cable.
