Was trolling Coats during that interview by releasing that tweet about Putin visiting the WH in the fall while Coats was on air with Andrea Mitchell, essentially sideswiping him. Trump was already furious with Coats for his 'lights blinking red like they did before 9/11 comments after Helsinki, remarks he purposely didn't clear with the WH before making them. The minute I heard that Costs had given that warning without the WH permission I knew his days were numbered. Will he even make it to the morning as Intelligence Director?

That a Donald Trump, who controls all his subordinates as President, was completely clueless as Flynn and others negotiated with Russians during his campaign and transition. No way.

He's gone, and I don't think he cares, even a little. He'd never quit, but he'll be more than happy to be fired.

... Jason Miller explained, re Coates being surprised by this news, that "this is on Coates". "Did the WH change their phone number? Why didn't he call the WH and find out what was going on? If he didn't know, it's on him."

Mr. Miller was (of course) not asked the obvious follow-up question: Exactly how many times a day should the DNI call the WH to be apprised of Trump's latest lunacy?

"Hi, White House switchboard? Yeah, this is Coates again. I know I just called ten minutes ago, but I just wanted to check-in and see if the Dotard has done anything I should know about since my last call."

The mind boggles.

his first statement, correcting Trump after the president's joint press conference with Putin, the president was furious. But when Coats and someone else (I'm not 100% sure who yet) threatened to resign, others pressured Trump to do the pathetic walk-back. Coats and the other were expected to not speak out again. But after Trump reversed his walk-back, Coats did the interview.

Coats might be gone within 24 hours, if Trump gets his way. But some others -- in the White House, administration, and Senate -- are warning Trump not to fire him. Time will tell. I think it's possible that if Coats is fired, Kelly will resign.
